Download Revo Uninstaller.

On the first window that pops up, select "Advanced" (The bottom option)

It will uninstall, and ask to restart. Click RESTART LATER

The next step will scan for left over files (Registry entriest and data files). Select all, and delete all.

Run CCleaner when it's done.

Reboot PC, remove all icons on Windows 8 Start Screen.

Have a nice day <3

McAfee is not an antivirus.

It shouldn't even be considered software. It's an abomination of poor work and broken technology.

So what should you do? First idea is to try conventional means of uninstallation. I will skip the how to uninstall programs lecture, google can give you that.

Second plan is to see if the McAfee you have is actually McAfee.

It could be a virus in disguise as McAfee. It's a common thing, Virus makers want to ride on a known name to get you to install it. If you can confirm your version is a virus then go onto step 3a

If it is actually McAfee try checking about on google to see if there is a specific way you need to uninstall it. CCleaner or "Tricky" software removal tools can help.

3a - Get an antivirus (Avast, AVG, Microsoft, MalwareBytes) and install it. If it is a virus hope that it doesn't prevent you from doing stuff.

Scan and remove the virus. DO NOT USE NORTON. Norton and McAfee are practically in the same ball park here. They are both hard to remove little

cunts that come with everything,

If nothing works and the above post fails, reply back.

For the love of all that is holy, use windows defender.  It is built right into Windows 8 and is completely free.  It also actually works, unlike most of the other POS anti-virus programs.

Just run the free version of MalwareBytes once a month (more if you browse lots of porn sites) to catch what Windows Defender misses.

What gregahit said, except I'd recommend superantispyware instead/as well. It's more time consuming, but in my experience it tends to catch what others miss.

All self built computers that you can buy come with added bloat doesn't matter if it's good or not the ones that put them together get paid to fill them with crap that you won't need in a hope that you might want to buy their junk and the ones that added it might get a bit of the money for adding them. I have always used avast and malwarebytes anti malware remover. Both macafee and norton are the bottom of the barrel types that should stay at the bottom of the barrel and never see the light of day or just seal the barrel that they are in and throw it into the deepest sea trench.

If you want to avoid having bloated computers start making your own which in turn will allow you to bypass all of that added crap. You can usually do it quite easily and find many things cheap if you go through a after market dealer.

Don't use McAfee, Norton or Avast. Those three suck big nuts.

Get yourself

AwdCleaner

ComboFix

Junkware Removal Tool

RKill

Malewarebytes is decent. Windows Defender is probably just as bad as Microsoft Windows Essential for WinVista and Win7. It can detect trojans but the damn thing can't remove them.

Oh...

Anvi Smart Defender is a nice free AV/AM program too. I started using it recently.

Apart from that I use most of IObit programs as well like ASC and the Uninstaller is very useful to scan for left over unwanted files you can remove and even shred if you want.

What's wrong with avast. I use it daily and it runs fine.

It doesn't like to pick up some trojans.

Never had a problem with it. And anything it doesn't pick up or accidentally does can either be fixed manually or be reported to avast themselves.

Still doesn't deserve to go next to Norton or McAfee. Two clusterfucks of an excuse for an antivirus.
