Myst42 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Just tought to leave this by in case anyone knows something Recently reinstalled my PC, Windows included. Have Windows 7 cuz I dont like ugly Windows 8. 64 bit version. Oblivion Mod Manager used to work. But now it doesnt. No idea why. Just click the executable and not a damn thing happens. Not even an error message Tried reinstalling Oblivion, tried a lot of things Oblivion related. None of them worked Tried reinstalling OBMM, tried alternate manual installations Tried running it as an administrator Nada Problem Is I still got mods that run on OBMM install scripts I dont think Wrye Bash can read those right? Even if it does, still need to unpack them from omod format Any suggestions? Thanks
fejeena Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 OBMM install scripts are used only during install. OBMM install only the selected parts/meshes\textures so they are all in the game Folders and used by the game. All should work. And if you activate a OMod it is unpacked in the game Folder. No OMods are used during Play. Unpack OMods use FOMM or the TesMM And try the TESMM , the same as the OBMM ( works also for Fallout and Skyrim) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5010/ It's an updated OBMM. ---------------------- Don't know why your OBMM does not work . Never happend in all the years I Play Oblivion. Edit: I also use Win7
varenne Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I'm using Win 7 Ultimate, 64-bit and have had no issues installing anything Oblivion related. What did you set your UAC too for that account? Win7 does have some oddities of its own not present in Vista or XP. And yeah, I wouldn't use puss filled, gack infected Win 8 if someone paid me to...
Myst42 Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Ok it's weird but its likw my Win install has a mind of its own. Some things some times work, some times they dont I had the same Win install before and other things didnt work and now they do Instead I run into this problem Regarding this script issue, I know they are only used during install and I know omods are unpacked to data folder Still those install scripts are needed as certain mods are very complicated to install, requiring several different choices and changes to ini files only those scripts know. In other words, stuff I dont know how to install manually I'll check the Nexus for Bash versions of them, but I'm not sure I'll find them all. Some of them: -DarkUI'd DarN -Dynamic Map -Enhanced Hotkeys -Hud Status Bars -Some Loading Screens for DarkUI Mostly interface affecting mods anyways but I still need them
varenne Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Are you installing your Oblivion related stuff to your primary or C:\ drive? Do you have secondary drive? Try that if you do, or if only one drive and it is large enough create a 2nd partition on it. I recall having read some issues around the default admin account on Win 7. You could also try creating a new admin account and see if these issues persist.
kingkong Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 just poping ! i have noticed in my last install some strange effects has vanished when i installed visual c++ 2008 , 2010 and the latest , and also Microsoft.net framwork 2 and the latest .
Myst42 Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 I have a partition system, everything goes installed in alternate hard drives. C is intact and clean as a baby I think I'm gonna give up on this one... I don't see how I got a snowball's chance in hell to figure out what's wrong with this one. Specially if it's not even an error message. I wanna scream, kick and break stuff in rage and frustration but that wont fix the problem either I'll just have to suck on to my frustration and try to find alternate means of making the mods work
gregathit Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Try a quick search using %appdata% You should have a folder named "oblivion" under appdata that contains a text file that lists your plugins. Try deleting that and then reinstall OBMM and see if that cures what ails you. If you find an OBMM folder (or oblivion mod manager folder) then delete it and try reinstalling OBMM.
Vaelorian Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Might I suggest trying to swap to TESMM? It's quicker, and has all the functionality of OBMM. And no, I don't mean NMM (as it is frequently confused for); TESMM is a direct continuation of OBMM, and there is a chance whatever issue you are facing was fixed in one of the updates.
QuiteTheTail Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I am very curious about this TESMM. Since I'll be facing a full system reinstall soon, I'll have the opportunity to try it. More to the point, I don't recall any particular prerequisite for the OBMM installer. I second the UAC problem hypothesis. (Already discarded, I see). Try following Greg's suggestion. I have had big troubles with Wrye Bash 2.91 recently (main window not starting). A repair install (in this exact order) of python-2.6.6.msiwxPython2.8-win32-ansi-2.8.11.0-py26.execomtypes-0.6.2.win32.exepywin32-214.win32-py2.6.exe fixed the problem. I don't know how to create BAIN packages for WB. On the other hand, unless your OMODs contain some complex installation scripts, you can always convert them to archive and use them as WB (simple) installers. I'll be glad to assist you in the conversion, since you don't have a working OBMM available right now.
Myst42 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 OBMM is lost. I actually had a full reinstall of the whole system. The entire operative system got completely wiped out. There are no traces of any previous OBMM installs and as far as I know it only stores things on it's installation folder anyways. Tried TESMM So far everything was running fine until I hit another brick wall Attempting to install See You Sleep DLL gives me error. I'm gonna let this pic show the stupidity of the situation
fejeena Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 ? i still use the OBMM and it don't care if you have all requirements or not. The TESMM I use for Skyrim. But is that a error message or only a info message ? If you press Aceptar = accept does it install the Mod or stop the Installation ? If it is a Info it's fine .
Myst42 Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 It's an error message programed by the install script. It stops I tried to remove those lines from the install script, but I failed miserably as it gave more errors and installation failed completely. (TESMM has stopped working window) Thankfully the package was simple so a manual install got me through... that one and also Dynamic Map which also failed because of the install script In sum, some scripts work, some others dont. I think it has trouble either recognizing the OBSE version or the script use feature is limited Or maybe I screwed up somewhere along the way and some god forsaken file got corrupt or missing so things are not working like they should But I'm just so tired C'me on me! It's only a few more mods now and I think the omod packs are finished Only a few more...
fejeena Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I have not installed any OMods with install scripts since many years. ( Even back then install scripts often sucks. Sometimes the scripts are able to overwrite files and you don't get a OBMM warning. It happend to me ( 5-6 year ago ?) and since then I have never installed a OMod I have not made myself. I always unpack OMods from other People. I hate it when People upload O Mods. I have a german Oblivion and I must first translate the esp ( all vanilla stuff). I also hate bsa files, I will check what's in the Folders, so I also unpack all bsa files. After I have delete all Pictures, readme, install scripts Folders and translated and cleaned the esp and checked the Folders I create my own OMod.
