vram1974 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I realize it's a lot of hard work but I wonder why nobody has gone and replaced the vanilla armors with an entirely new look? Like, a complete makeover? I know that Tera armors and other craftable gear is very very popular in Skyrim but for the most part that's only for you and your followers. The rest of Skyrim wears the same old outfits. I would love to see somebody put forward a non-lore skimpy mod like Tera but as a replacer version for all the vanilla stock.

It's a simple matter of workload, and people would rather spend that effort and creativity on their own creations, rather than deal with people beeing upset that this or that armour replacer they might make doesen't fit their vision of what would make a good replacement for this or that vanilla armour.

vram1974 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Yes I agree I use Chronotrigger's replacer with the HDT cleavage presets from "I love Cleavage." What I meant was I wonder why there are not more replacer armors that look nothing like the vanilla armors? As Coopervane said it's for choice and preference (too many whiners) but it would be cool to have a totally new look. An overhaul, if you will.
Coopervane Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 You can turn 3'rd party armours into vanilla replacers yourself if you are so inclined. For armours that only have 1 version, it just requires renaming the .nif file to what you want to replace and putting it in the right folder. For armours and clothes that make use of textureset's, it'll require basic knowledge of using NifScope to set things up. That'll replace all armours of that type though. Skyrim does not really use levelled lists to dress up the NPC's though, so if you want NPC's dressed up in different ways it would require hard edits of those NPC's and NPC groups.

It's got to be that no one with all the skills needed has had the desire to make such a thing. --------------------- As far as a full swap of vanilla armor to Tera Armor, sure that's possibly doable its just that its time consuming and obviously no one actually felt strongly enough that it could full on replace the Lore and survive the Nexus. Tera Armor also has some real Mesh Issue's. Most people don't realize that good looking skimpy needs to be a model that is based on the body type your going to smack it on. The mesh on boobs, crotch, and butt have very noticeable clipping when you take a CBBE and try to force it to fit Unp with added HDT effects. I honestly don't think you could swap the two and have the game keep its feeling. Also not everyone is wild about skimpy armor replacers. I find that most of them are not well done at all....And when they are well done enough that they look good then I have an obvious question, Why hasn't someone just added the vanilla Replacer to the Stock List rather than replacing the outfits. You see when an outfit replacer is actually good....Maybe it should be added to the list as a possible outfit to be worn rather than completely removing "female fur outfit 4"

Be aware though if there are no male meshes assinged depending on how the user has set there armour mod up males will have either invisible body pieces or be using female meshes, both of which look odd.

Mud Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Well, being currently in the process of replacing all of my game's vanilla gear with my own selection of UUNP outfits since there's no UUNP version of Chronotrigger's replacer, I can attest it's a LOT of work to do. Just for starters, you need a lot of different outfits. Also, a lot of vanilla outfits don't come with their own matching gloves or boots, so you need to take care that things won't clip horribly when different vanilla Outfit combinations are involved. I also want to keep my selection of outfits skimpy, but also believable for what they are, like replacing Ebony gear with black armor or keeping the Akaviri flavor of the Blades armor by replacing it with the Akavir Samurai armor.

Immersive armors, has unp versions as well. Yeah it does, but unless your character is the equivalent of a B cup, you're going to end up feeling... restrained, lol. My toons are busty, but still in the realm of reality, and I've never had a set of Immersive Armor display my character's curves properly. Since I use UNPB or Sevenbase, the armors fit without major clipping though.

Vanilla body thou, would love to have a conversion there for the ladies.
