blackandwhite14593 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Hi! Every time I load an outfit into outfit studio, make changes, build it, and then put it on in game, the body and the outfit always get offset from head and hands. As I understand the offset happens when I load the outfit into the studio. Because of this I always have to use "move shape" for the body and outfit in the studio (usually with 0, -2,54431, 3.2879) , to make it overlap with my head and hand in game. Does anybody else have this problem? Thank you in advance!
myuhinny Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Not sure on outfit studios as I have never used it but I have seen the body offset thing before while using mesh rigger to add nodes to a nif. I have only seen it happen with older UNP bodies and outfits/armors that use the older UNP body. Not sure if it happens with other older bodies that use the same things that the older UNP bodies used or not like skeleton as I only use UNP. With the UNP body usually the ones that do it are the ones that spew out improper rotation matrix errors in Gerra6's clothing converter and in their mesh rigger that same body will shift to a different spot in the nif. I usually have to convert a older UNP armor/outfit then remove the body from the older nif and replace it with a copy of the body I used to convert the armor/outfit to. That will usually prevent the body from shifting for me when I run them through mesh rigger.

As to why that happens I would speculate it has something to do with how the author exported it from Blender or 3DSmax. When you use Outfit Studio a lot your going to see a lot of really odd issues crop up. It likely has more to do with there being no clear cut standard and few guides to use and an absence of quality how to information.

But is there a way to know how much you need to move the outfit to make overlap in game? I mean most of the outfits need the standard 0, -2,54, 3.28 shifting, but there are some that need less or more, and you don't how much. Not sure on outfit studios as I have never used it but I have seen the body offset thing before while using mesh rigger to add nodes to a nif. myuhinny Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Well for it to work for me I had to first convert the armor to my players UNPCM body with Gerra6's clothing converter then make a copy of it and make a copy of my players body that I used as a template and place both of them into a empty folder then load up the converted nif. Right click on a piece of clothing/armor and go to block - copy branch the load and load up the players body nif and right click scene root and go to block - paste branch - save as to overwrite the nif. Repeat till all pieces are in the players nif. Then I ran it through mesh rigger and the body shift never happens. Only time it doesn't allow you to paste something from 1 nif to another one is if one nif is missing a required node. Like a outfit that has breast nodes will not be able to be pasted into a nif that doesn't have those nodes the other one is if the 2 scene roots do not match in name. If one is named Scene Root and the other one something else it won't let you paste it in. You have to right click one of them and go to transform - edit and change the name to match the other one.
ousnius Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Sometimes you can find info on the offset in the NiSkinData or NiTriShape when viewing the NIF file in NifSkope. However, the next version of OS will have sliders + text boxes for the move dialog instead of just text boxes, so finding the right values will be easier and faster.

Choosing file offset on NiTrishape for an outfit gave me message "estimated file offset is 576 (0x240)". What do I do with this? I need three x,y,z coordinates to know how much to move the outfits.

No no, that's the file offset of the block in bytes. You need the translation value inside of the details panel of those blocks.

For any outfit in block details the position section shows zero for all three coordinates Guess I have to look for some other solution... But thank you for your help!
