Mobilizer Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 So I've never learned how to build a PC and too lazy to learn how. My current setup is an Intel Core 2.53 Ghz with 4 GB RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730. Basically a "craptop". I found a PC that honestly looks amazing, but I have fairly little knowledge about over or undercompensation, when I should upgrade parts, or even knowing how to upgrade. My budget is around 1.5K and I am actually considering buying it. To any computer junkies out there, tell me what you think of it? http://www.amazon.com/Microtel-Computer%C2%AE-Computer-1600Mhz-Microsoft/dp/B009XGMGHM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1432925741&sr=1-1&keywords=microtel+gaming+pc
Itski Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Well it's the exact same spec as my PC so that's some thing to go by
Swissenergy Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Solid machine, the only recommendation I have is get an SSD if you can find one that will fit within your budget and meet your needs, it really does make that much of a difference.
sakawura Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 you should save up money and wait for next gen gpu to drop and build one from scratch, coming some time next year. i´m gonna spend so much money on my baby ^^

This laptop needs to be replaced ASAP. Besides, I think a PC like this one would hold out for about 3 years.

You might want to go for the next model up that has a SSD Microtel Computer® AMTI7002 the price difference is $300 (which is what roughly £150) You could get a better/cheaper SSD and fit yourself (HD's are one of the easiest things to install) however, having the SSD won't improve stuff like FPS but it does make overrall PC use a lot better

I could wait until my next paycheck to purchase a computer. Yep. I think I'll do just that. Thanks for the suggestion =)

Yep, especially if you can cut costs by importing legacy components from your old machine, like the case, HDDs, and disc drives.
BaeleDrae Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Welp if it helps my desktop has lasted a good strong 5 years now. Need to buy a new one soon because my CPU is kinda crap nowadays XD Edit: will be building mine from scratch with parts from a Computer store so that I can afford what I am buying ... starting with a new Power Supply mind you XD
Varithina Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 You could also ask around your friends, no doubt at least one of them knows there way around building a pc from components upwards, get them to plug those specs from the machine you linked into which ever place they buy from and see how cheap it comes, the offer them where appropriate booze, chocolate or other food and drinks to build it for you, then sit there and watch them build it. Though looking at it, it looks all right, though I would see if you can get a 2nd hard drive and maybe liquid cooling as well. You could also look at places that do custom build pcs as well using those specs or as close as they do as a base line then upgrade to the max amount of money you want to spend. Though deliver times on them tend to be longer of course. One thing you might want to keep and eye on is there warranty/return system, some places will invalidate your warranty if you open the case, even if its to add something like a second hard drive or change the cooler on the cpu, well unless you return the machine to them, a couple of places I know of will then wipe your hard drive even if there is nothing wrong with the software and its just the cpu cooler thats gone.
