Gameplayer Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I guess I haven't played with houses enough to notice this before but when you have a home like TNF Breezehome your npc's like the spouse or a MYIYH npc can teleport between floors. I'd like a mod that would crush this super power. Something else I noticed with the Breezehome is that unwelcome NPC's can be found inside the house. I think they are jelly of my patio on the roof and are tryin to get squatting rights to my pad when I'm off slaying dragons.
Kendo 2 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 NPCs (spouses, housecarls, Hearthfire kids) teleporting inside houses is an AI glitch in the game. If they have a sandbox AI package that allows them to use special furniture (cooking pots, enchanters, alchemly labs) they'll go to those first and if those aren't available they'll sit in chairs or use idles markers (like for sweeping). The sandbox makes them WANT to use that stuff so they'll take the shortest route to get to it. The only way to beat that is to find a mod that gives the NPCs real AIs with a scheduled routine. Only then will they walk from point to point and not teleport through walls or between floors.
Swissenergy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I've used Multiple Floor Sandboxing mod for a while and it seems to work fairly well. NPCs will pretty much go anywhere inside a building and not just keeping sitting in the same two chairs that are right next to each other, don't know if this would help your issue at all but I thought I'd mention the mod in case you weren't aware of it.
Kendo 2 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I never knew about sandboxcylinders. I learned something today.
Veladarius Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Also if they are trying to go someplace and the game thinks the path is blocked they will teleport past whatever is blocking them.
Kendo 2 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Also if they are trying to go someplace and the game thinks the path is blocked they will teleport past whatever is blocking them. Yeah, forgot about that. Too many obstacles and other NPCs and they'll pop from one side to the other. The Bannered Mare in White Run at night when it's time for everyone to go home.
Gameplayer Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Shoot, so Scottish Bannered Mare with Liat thrown in is really too tight a space.
DaXmAn Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 I know you know, that this whole behaviour is made like that to avoid glitches. It's just easier to "telerpot" NPC instead of resolving every possible situations via tons of scripts...
