SKSE CTD No Mods ACTIVE

Hi guys, I have played skyrim for about a year and have run it successfully with over 100 mods installed. However, for some reason when I opened skyrim it crashed at the bethesda logo. I am used to this by now and know how to fix it, so I go through and begin unchecking mods from my load order until I find the problem. Unfortunately, when I had deactivated the problem file, my game booted up and got to the main menu. At the main menu, I see the Skyrim logo but before the options to load/start new/quit etc. pop up the game crashes to desktop. I investigated this problem for a few hours and eventually decided to just uninstall all of my mods. Still, I had the same problem WITH NO MODS ACTIVE AT ALL. I looked online for help but it seems no one had experienced this problem without mods installed before. So I went ahead and disabled even the DLCs and still the game crashed at the main menu. I was, however, able to successfully load the game with the default launcher through steam, and was even able to load my savegames through the steam launcher. However, I really enjoy using mods so I would definitely like solve the problem lol. I figure that since the problem persisted even with no mods installed it must be the SKSE launcher. I wondered if maybe the launcher wouldn't work if there were no mods installed that required it, so I tested it with just the unofficial patches and racemenu installed. Nope, it still crashed at the main menu. I verified the integrity of the game cache, and it said 1 file was missing. I re-acquired the file and tried again. The game still crashed. At this point, I have no mods installed at all, and a verified game cache, and am totally unable to launch the game through the SKSE launcher. I checked that SKSE was fully updated and even re-downloaded and installed it just to make absolutely sure and still the problem persists.

I'm hoping one of you modding gods will come along and fix this problem for me.

TL;DR -

- If I launch the game with the SKSE launcher, the game crashes on the main menu (not the bethesda logo)

- I have no mods activated (it doesn't work with the DLC de-activated either)

- Integrity of game cache is fully verified through steam

- SKSE is fully updated

- Game is fully functional when launched through steam

- When mods were active, BOSS and LOOT detected no problems

My Newb Questions -

- If I were to delete local content and re-download/install, would the data folder be cleared as well?

- If mods are deactivated, would an issue in the data folder still cause the game to crash?

- Since the game does not crash on the bethesda logo and no mods are active, are mods still the source of the problem?

I can provide a list of all 126 mods I had installed the when the problem first appeared if needed however I am not sure how you guys would like it formatted (a typed list, nexus links, screenshotted load order, can I link the results of BOSS?)

Thank you for your time and assistance, it is much appreciated.

Hey, bro. I am not a modding god, but i can give you a few advices. Try to reinstall Skyrim and launch it without any mods through Skyrim.exe and see, if it work fine or not. If game run normaly without mods, than the problem in one, two or even several mods, that lead to critical error and crash your game. I remember, a 5-6 month ago, i have a similar problem. Skyrim just start to CTD in specific location. I disable all mods, try to reinstall SKSE, run BOSS many times (it's not show any errors) and etc. No matter what i do, it crash all the way. Only whole reinstall help to solve the problem. I spend 2-3 hours reinstalling Skyrim and all mods, but it's worth it. And one more thing - always keep working backup copy of your game somewhere  :)

I am almost 100% sure, that after reinstall, your Skyrim will work fine.

Try moving\deleting files in scripts folder located in Data and deleting\moving files from SKSE plugins folder. Reinstall SKSE after that, see if that helps.

You didn't mention it, but if you have an ENB installed, SKSE's memory patch and ENB's memory patch are mutually exclusive, meaning you can use either one, but not both. I was fighting this without knowing it for several months now before I stumbled across it by complete accident a couple days ago.

I don't have an ENB, and I've never used one before either.

Maybe a stupid question but are you running it as administrative mode ?? just right click and hit administrative mode.

Yeah, I definitely am.

Do you mean to delete the all the files in the folders? I moved one from each, reinstalled, and it didnt help, I moved them back and reinstalled and still didn't help. I think I understand what you mean, in that if one of those files was causing the problem moving/deleting it and reinstalling skse would solve the problem, however if I wanted to keep my mods I would have to move the files back after reinstalling right? Then the problem file would still be there. Is there a way for me to single out what file is causing the crashes?

Yes, get a list of mods that you have currently installed, see which of them install scripts (BSA Archives don't count).

The other guy suggested reinstalling skyrim, that didn't work. I tried what you suggested earlier and was able to pinpoint that the problem was indeed in the SKSE folder (TYVM). Luckily that folder isnt too full (only about 30 files) so hopefully I can figure out what the problem was. Thanks again.
