D_ManXX2 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I had just upgraded from an older 560 TI who was constantly oeverheating but it needed external 6 pin pciE cable to power it up but from the looks off it 750 GTX TI does not need this 6 pin cable to power up ?? how is it gaining it't power comparred to older models ??
nameless701 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 the 560 is a old fermi-gpu (needs more power) The 750 is a keppler-gpu (this is a LowEnd_GPU) x10-x50 = lowEnd x60/x70 = Midrange x80/Titan = HighEnd This was not an upgrade(this is a down-/sidegrade)... you have realy not more GPU-Power if you want to upgrade your GPU,search for a GTX960 with 4Gb VRAM and bring back the outdated 750Ti
Halstrom Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 the 560 is a old fermi-gpu (needs more power) The 750 is a keppler-gpu (this is a LowEnd_GPU) x10-x50 = lowEnd x60/x70 = Midrange x80/Titan = HighEnd This was not an upgrade(this is a down-/sidegrade)... you have realy not more GPU-Power if you want to upgrade your GPU,search for a GTX960 with 4Gb VRAM and bring back the outdated 750Ti Yeah, the first digit is more the year model, the second 2 digits are how good it is. Quite possibly you may find you are still running a slightly better card regardless, probably depends on other system specs too.
RitualClarity Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 If my memory serves me correctly The 750ti runs cooler because of the new architecture It uses less power so it might not even come with a separate power connector and get all its power from the PCIexpress slot. It might be similar power graphic wise however it is more effective and possibly have more memory access than the 500x card from before. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-750-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-560-Ti Not a upgrade/downgrade it really depends on what you want / need in a card if this is better than the one you had before...
bjornk Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 The 750TI shares the same architecture (Maxwell) with the 9xx series, therefore it needs less power to run. From Wikipedia... The very first Maxwell-based products to hit the market were the GeForce GTX 750 and the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxwell_(microarchitecture)
Dasanko Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 The 750 GTX TI is the superior card of the two. It's not that it's gaining the same amount of power; it's much more power-efficient, meaning it requires less power (newer architecture). As a plus, while being noticeably graphically superior and consuming less power, it's also cooler.
