Okay, so I've purchased Skyrim on Steam, and I have a large number of workshop items subscribed.  I've also started modding with mods found on this site.

I've downloaded several mods, and most of them say they require: SKSE, SkyUI, and Jcontainers.

I have a number of others (Attemptedly,) installed, but I can't get them to work with my characters.  In particular, the Sex Addicts mod, but it goes beyond that.  I have a slew of problems, and some assistance would be MUCH appreciated.

The technical issues are as follows:

1:  What mod do I need to have nude players/npc/humanoid characters?  I've got a number of mods to see several different creature genitailia, but the only one I've been able to see is the falmer.  I'd like to come across some nice Argonian/Kajiit action.

2: When I load a save, I get three messages that pop up in this order;

SkyUI doesn't detect SKSE present.  (Abridged version)

     JContainers Can't load.

SexLabs can't activate because you have an outdated version of Skyrim. (Again, the Abridged version)

I've tried to find what version I have on steam, but I'm not having much success.  Is there something I'm missing here?

3: I actually breifley gave up, and uninstalled all the mods I had, save for my Steam Workshop subscriptions.  When I try to load a game, anytime it attempts to save, (be it quicksave, autosave, or manually,)  it crashes.  That is, until I turn on SkyUI.  Is this related?

4: I play with a controller.  I prefer it that way, but even when I have my layout as a keyboard, when I try to activate different controls for the Sex Addicts mod, it doesn't respond.  What's going on here?

5: On a subject similar to the last, Since I like to use my controller, a lot of the controls when using SkyUI don't transfer.  Ex, being able to select myself in order to trade/store items.  This does work when I switch to keyboard layout, but is there any way I can make it so I don't have to?

1. any body replacer get rid of that workshop stuff and start downloading from nexusmods and loverslab of course or any other source than the workshop stuff. to name examples of most popular body replacers CBBE and UNP (unp has serval bodys that are made on its base like unbp and 7base) choose the one you like and also get yourself a custom skeleton like XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended you will need it for the animations to works also allways read the requirements the mods need since you obviously havent done it

2. well as I said before read the requirements and read how to use them the description is there for a reason

well you obviously either don't have skse or did not start skyrim with skse either way read the description

3. no idea, but it anyway as said sounds like you did not read any describtion and your installation is a mess

4/5 dunno don't use a controler I think controlers are useless unless you play racing games

For starters, I'd suggest not getting stuff from Steam Workshop since it just jams shit into your Skyrim folder and will eventually mess your game up to where it needs to be reinstalled....over and over again. Same goes for NMM if you install then uninstall mods. Your game WILL break eventually.

2) Steam should have given you the most updated version.

3) Crashes on startup mean you're missing a file that something depends on. So if it works with SkyUI active it means you have a mod(s) that require it.

4) What controller are you using? A wired XBox controller works best. I am using a LogiTech and it works fine, too, but requires an emulator to work as well as a XBox controller does. Search for "X360E" on the 'net and you'll find a good emulator. You'll have all the function of the controller like playing on XB360 and the keyboard functions will still work as well.

It sounds like your game is broken. If it was me I would reinstall to a clean state, learn to use Mod Organizer (to keep my Skyrim folder clean and for 1000 other good reasons), then leave the Workshop mods on the Workshop (because you need total control over what happens to your game folder).

1:  What would be the point where a re-install would be necessary?  Because I have limited internet overseas, and I don't want to go through an entire month's worth of data for one game.  Also, on the subject of NMM, I have it installed, but I can't install .net in order to make it work.  It won't finish installing.  It just stops.  Any help there?

EDIT: Nevermind on the .net issue, I got it.  I stopped bothering to download it from the site, and completley re-installed NMM.  It worked the secon't time around after deleting all the times I'd previously downloaded it.

2: Ok, that's what I thought.

3: But it's not crashing on startup, it's crashing on save.  I can play the game, until I need to save it.  Would that still contribute the same issue?

4: I use a rock candy wired controller.  It works fine with the game, just not well with SkyUI.

I did read the descriptions, though as a first time Skyrim modder, it did seem a bit confusing, so I may have missed a few parts.

How do you start a game with SKSE?  I found a shortcut on my desktop that said "Skyrim (SKSE)," clicked it, and still got the same results.  I used both the SKSE installer, as well as manually installed it.  Is there some way needed to activate it or something?

This is where you get Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE).

Most of the recent versions of mods that depend on it use the 1.7.2 beta version.

That's where I'd gotten it before, but I was using the 1.7.1, not the beta.  That may help.

Use Mod Organizer and create a new profile whenever you get a working mod load order.  Then if your game "breaks", all you have to do is revert to an older profile.  MO will do the work for you without redownloading the game from Steam.

MO has a ton of other great features if you're not familiar with it.  Compared to MO, NMM is a pile of junk.

Don't worry, I was exactly the same as you a few months back before I got a gaming rig :) . Phew, where to start?

Apologies in advance for the massive wall of text...

If there's something else, let me know and I'll try to get back to you.

I'm not sure about the outdated Skyrim error. Steam should automatically update it. I will just say

*** IF YOUR COPY OF SKYRIM IS PIRATED BUY IT LEGALLY***

You will not be given much help and might be banned if it is, we all take a dim view of piracy here and on the nexus too. So, anyway...

First up, read. The internet taught me everything I know about modding, which I only started in November myself. Just be prepared for what is potentially hours of reading to learn this or find fixes for problems. This post should be good training for that lol

Sometimes with error messages like you originally described, just tweak the load order. Again, MO is really helpful here. However, I guess you're not launching the game through SKSE. Skyrim needs to be launched via SKSE to load it in game, Mod Organiser will automatically find the SKSE launcher if it is there. That would explain the Jcontainers and Skyui errors.

Know your computer. If it's not super high end, don't load tons of mods. A light game is generally considered to be under 50 mods. Skyrim has a limit of 250. If you are anywhere near that, every crash, freeze and Infinite Loading Screen needs to be tested and if possible reproduced.

Crashes after the Bethesda logo means missing masters. Check all your mods requirements and that you don't have patches for stuff you don't have. Crash during gameplay means you overloaded the game. Get the SKSE memory patch. (See below)

I cannot emphasise enough how useful Mod Organiser is it takes a week or two to learn how to use but it is worth it. It keeps mods in a separate, auto generated directory so the base game files remain isolated, which is incredibly valuable.

Go to youtube and search for Gopher's channel, he has a slightly outdated but very useful series on modding and on MO in particular.

MO does not work with ENB, which is a collection of graphics mods. There's one file ENB needs that breaks MO. ENBoost still works and I would advise you get it. The STEP forum has a how to.

Don't use Steam workshop. Most mods will be available on the SkyrimNexus website, which also has Nexus Mod Manager (NMM), which is needed for Mod Organiser if memory serves. The nexus is free to join.

Don't mix and match from nexus and Workshop. It's possible, but confusing and occasionally causes issues in my experience.

Don't just uninstall mods. The reason you shouldn't just uninstall mods is because if it includes scripts, which many do, some of that will stay in your game and eventually corrupt the save, which is how my first modded game failed.

Make a clean save. Personally, I played to Riverwood completely vanilla, and saved there. I use that save for every new game.

For male body parts if you catch my meaning, you're best off with SOS, aka Schlongs of Skyrim, available here and on the nexus.

CBBE and UNP, 7base and all the rest are female body mods. They change the way females look in game by which I mean body shape. Personally I like CBBE Curvy, though the choice is of course yours.

Read up on FNIS, Fores New Idles in Skyrim mod, it makes custom animations possible. It's a mod and also you will need to use GenerateFNISForUsers, which is an executable that reads your mods and compiles animations that they add. Various Sexlab mods add animations and all mods use them so this is necessary.

Make sure you learn how to use 3rd party software via MO by adding them to the executables window. Again, Gopher has videos on how.

XP32 Maximum Skeleton is a custom skeleton mod, required for FNIS I think. It adds more nodes (control points) to bodies to allow animations.

SkyUI is a requirement for many mods. There is a mod to keep it but restore vanilla menus if that's what you want.

SKSE is a must have. No arguments. Also get Sheson's Memory Patch up and running. It ships with SKSE so search for the memory patch ini. The nexus has a download for the settings required, just install to MO for ease. To check if the patch is working, get memory blocks log from the nexus.

Papyrus logs are not as useful as some say. That can occasionally help to find problematic mods, but not often. If the log has lines of errors and warnings, don't worry unless there is an issue in game is how I work.

Wrye Bash and Loot are invaluable. They are 3rd party mod managers. WB can merge mods and LOOT sorts them for optimal load order which can fix many bugs. It's not infallible so check load order yourself every so often.

TES5Edit is also handy. If used with MO, install it into the same folder as MO.

And what He said in this wall of text...

On the subject of piracy, it's a legitimate copy.  Got it last summer.  (The entire thing for 15 bucks, DLC included? F*** YEAH!)

Your wall of text has definitley helped.  I tried using Mod Organizer, something I was reluctant to do(paranoid, sorry.), and installing them through that helped tremendously.  Launching it through Mod Organizer fixed the issues I had with most of the problems, and I downloaded most of the mods that I needed.  That's all the problems I can find for now.  We'll see how it goes, but for this thread, I can mark it as complete!

I'd Just like to thank everybody that helped me out on this thread, Thanks a lot, you were all very helpful!
