SexLab Defeat/Submit conflicts

This is partly a question (because it's foolish of me to assume I know any answers), but partly an observation and a dialog opening to see if I can't get these two favorite mods to co-exist.

Yesterday, I added the mod "Submit" to my loadout along with my long-standing "Defeat", which I've come to enjoy as a fun diversion from just killing everybody (always my first option :) ).   But 3 times in the next 20 minutes, I crashed at the end of combat which told me that the reason may have been the conflicting decision trees between the 2 mods.  (I didn't voluntarily submit, which would have been the smarter thing to do, I guess).

First, I suppose one might ask why I would want "Defeat" and "Submit" both running at the same time.  Defeat has given me some very fun and interesting combat options other than dying/reloading :)  With my minimum health set high enough, I don't often die after it's all over (though that's happened, too).

Submit, however, adds some other aspects I like - like the ability to force an NPC opponent to submit to me.  Or using stealth to rape/rob. Bounty turn-ins.  New options to seduce NPCs without combat (one of my favorites due to my high speech skill).   And I can still walk up to a group of bandits, press the "Submit" hotkey and just get to the sex part without getting beaten up.

I've been using Defeat for weeks and I may have become somewhat addicted to it (despite that time at Robber's Gorge when I was left naked and trussed up for the giants to prey upon).  I'm tempted now to drop Defeat and just go all-Submit for the more-balanced noncombat options it seems to offer.

Any input from the veterans and experts here on which mod is superior (depending, of course, on style of play) or maybe why the 2 mods don't want to cooperate when run together?

I use both without any problems, and I'd always keep Defeat, if only for the "Clean up" option which has saved me out of several stuck animations.

I would love to be able to run both, but right now I have a working load order that I went through literal hell to tweak just right and I'm scared to death to change it :(

I can't think of another reason why they would conflict when run together other than overlapping combat options, but you've blown that theory out of the water :)  Which do you load first?

Generally, you'll run into conflicts if you have two mods using two different approaches to do pretty much the same thing.

With Defeat and Submit, this doesn't affect things so much when you're the aggressor, as you either 'shout' or grapple them down with Submit, or beat on them until they hit the bleedout state and have your fun.

The conflict is much more apparent when the player is the victim, especially if you have Submit's 'auto-surrender' toggled on. Personally, I use Defeat for that aspect, as the whole sequence feels a bit more interactive with it's animation sequence and the player character using voiced dialogue. The only disadvantage is that Defeat doesn't seem to recognize other 3-way animations aside from 'Devil's 3-Way', and I personally would rather use the 'DI Forced Threeway' for those situations.

Also, there seems to be a problem using some of the 'active' options in either mod if your character is too high level or too skilled. This can turn up if you're using the Uncapper or something similar.

I love using Submit's speechcraft options, though. Especially after editing some of the dialogue to my personal taste.

So yeah. You can use both, but I'd suggest only using one 'automatic' option for the player getting raped.

I have Defeat first and Submit second.

Thank you, that explains quite a bit.  I'm level 30 but I abandoned those uncapper mods long, long ago when they made Skyrim too unbalanced for me :)  I got to 30 naturally (well, except for console-boosting my speech).  I like Submit for the dialog options but, as you say, Defeat does feel a bit more natural.  I can set the minimum health level when I'm defeated and raped.  I usually turn off the options where I'm the aggressor - not my personal preference :)

Suludi, that's the order I have.  Apparently I need to do some more tweaking.  I lost the ability to collect dragon souls a couple of days ago and the mods I've installed to fix that don't work, and the music when I'm at a word wall and absorb a new word is broken, too.  At this rate, my whole Skyrim is going to be borked and I'll be faced with deleting it and rebuilding it :(

when i am defeated and raped? wow you sure don't understand what rape means. someone forcing you into "the" interaction and you enjoying it at the same time is not rape. rape is a serious issue in real life and should always be treated seriously or via roleplaying. if say me got raped in the fictional skyrim which has not happened yet(i still am very succesful at keeping the ai away) i would probably be torn apart. and reconsider/change mod or playstyle for a good amount of time. so you really have to understand that. otherwise your level 30 exp and virtual life in skyrim were meaningless. may aswell call them desperate interactive porn watching sessions

What exactly is your problem?  It's a fricking game and we can all play however we choose.

Maybe you're 12 years old and have never heard of "Rape RP".  Grow up.

The Troll is strong with this one. Either that, or he thinks he's posting on another board.

This is a technical thread, not a philosophical one about the nature of rape mods.

Thank you.

Update: Tried running Defeat loaded before Submit and I still crashed twice.  I did not give Defeat a chance to kick in (I don't think) as I surrendered before the bandits even began shooting/hitting me.  Finished one encounter, started the 2nd and crashed again.

So far, I crash any time Submit is loaded whether it's with or without Defeat.  :(

There's a conflict between Submit and Sexlab 1.59c. Aleanne posted a fix for it. There should be a link to the post at the end of the Submit thread. I'm afraid I'm having trouble posting the link myself.

Well I had to uninstall. It did actually work once. For a few seconds but then went wonky on me again. I use Loot and it usually does the job I'm wondering if it's not a load order thing.

(Feel like I'm talking to myself.)

I find if I want to run both of those mods at the same time I have to make sure they work around one another instead of on top. You can turn off certain aspects of each mod in the MCM menu so that they don't try to both work at the same time. For example, if you want Defeat to handle all of the times where your character is overwhelmed by an enemy and raped then you can go into the menu for Submit and turn off the "Player Submit Active" preference in Player As Victim options. That way you still get your sneak grapple and Submit shout as well as your dialogue options but Defeat is handling all of your "oh noez!" moments.

I don't have Defeat, but Submit and Prison Overhaul conflicted to make a scenario I thought rather funny. I was in Solitude and the Parade scenario came up, so the jailer (female) started marching me all the way across Skyrim, since it's not set up for the capital. Not sure if we were headed for Morthal or Whiterun, where it can be done. Hey, I'm tied and gagged so I had no choice but to do the long march naked. And it was raining.

When we got to Robbers Gorge we were attacked and the jailer started killing them all. But a few arrows put me into Submit's auto-surrender script, and an orc started to have his way with me. The jailer saved me and killed him. But then the Submit script released me from my bonds, and I ran for it. That jailer had been tormenting me for days, but she couldn't stop me escaping.

does anyone know what can be done if submits calm feature doesn't stop?

I'm having an issue with it where after the first time I submitted all the enemies in the world would just not be hostile anymore, its pretty game breaking, its like the calm cloak is stuck on my character, enemies that are just on the horizon (a ways away from me) start turning up as hostile with red dots on the compass but as soon as I get close to them they put their weapons away and walk off.

is there a simple way to make the game or the mod re-check itself so it can turn off the calm effect? a console command maybe or perhaps the author could add a troubleshooting feature like with defeat where the mod cleans itself should anything stick?
