Burned body textures on female NPCs when clothed

Skyrim is being Skyrim again,  already.    As if performance problems weren't enough.

All female NPCs except a few (Grelod the Kind,  Serana),  have burned body textures under their clothes.  Stripping them (using removeallitems) gets rid of it...

I have no darndiddly idea how or WHAT the fk' is causing it.  It randomly happened along during the Blood on the Ice quest.  The most pitifully buggy quest in the game.   Even now that the quest is finished the problem remains.   Though it happening during the quest could have been coincidence.

Reinstalling body textures or installing a clothing redesigning mod doesn't solve anything.

Body textures including SG Renewal,  and Fair Skin textures.  Clothing redesigning being "UNP Armors".

I have not.  I tried to use UNP Armors after the fact to try to fix it.  The armor changed-  the body problem did not.

There was no change in mods when the issue happened.  I was just mid-game playing through the quest when I noticed it midway through the Blood on the Ice quest.

Edit 1:

.

.

.

...  The problem seems to have resolved itself.  I just loaded a save (As usual I had to use the console from the main menu to "load autosave3" because the dumbnuts crashes when trying to load games directly from the main menu) and an NPC I've been using to check the body bug was corrected.   I haven't really done anything.

Edit 2:

.

.

.

...  The problem seems to have returned. I just reloaded the same save,  and the error was present again. No changes. I just reloaded the save because I didn't kill Grelod in a satisfactory way.  Bug back.

Edit 3:

.

.

.

... Reloaded once again.  From the console this time like I did in edit 1,  but did not do in edit 2.  Loading through the console removes the bug.  Loading through menus returns the bug.

I don't now much about this things, but what you say reminds me something similar, in this cases in Creation Kit...

When you create a new NPC, using it to form its body, there's a moment where its BodyArmor texture shows a burned body. Doesn't mind that you link to the .dds files that you'll use with that NPC. The case is that ths only occurs with female characters. I'm talking about NPC creation in CK, but is really similar.

Well, in the case I'm talking about those burned textures has an origin: they are not simple burned texture, but the texture of dead Astrid, of Dark Brothehood. Somehow, it takes it as default body texture in BodyArmor preview window. I told you because, maybe, your 'burned' textures ar also Astrid'd ones (probably, if you say that only affects to women).

I don't know a solution to that. Due that texture is part of vanilla Skirim Data, maybe you need to reinstall the whole Game. Let's do this: Give me a moment to get ready a .zip with vanilla data, install it as it were a mod (emulating a 'reinstall'), and we'll see how Skyrim answer...

"Edit" 4 (New post since there's been a new post):  Console loading only fixed it in that interior cell, on that specific NPC. Exiting to riften,  the bug persists regardless of how I load it.

If it's related to Astrid,  perhaps it may be related to me taking Aventus Arentino or w/e's quest, I did that about mid way through Blood On the Ice actually.

Edit:

My early save I made just at the Windhelm Docks prior to starting Blood on the Ice / talking to Aventus,  does not have the bug.   I think it maybe related to quest triggers.  Something to do with either body replacements (Susana the Wicked,  Astrid) going haywire.

Edit:

Fuck.   It was only temporary apparently.  Fast traveling out of Windhelm to Riften,  the error persisted on other NPCs,  even reloading directly to that save and going straight to riften.    I'm so confused by this shit.

I just ran LOOT,  it took a number of repeated attempts to load regardless of method but finally got in...  And the bug is still fkin' there.  I have noticed that it only appears on Human characters.  Not Elves. (... Maybe) And the grumpy lady shop keeper in Riften is only patchy.  She still has skin.  It's like the two body types are overlaying each other with the burns clipping through in places.

Oh My! I'm trying to make a copy of my .bsa files, extrating just only meshes/textures related to female human or elf... They are huge for this uploading limit, sorry. Even excluding Child/vampire/werewolf, It'd need many cuts to upload in a lot of zips.

Edit: not Elves, just only human females... that's great. (And could confirm the 'Astrid's Theory'). Ok, I'll remove elves related files too. That would make this easier.

I just installed this:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30740/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D30740&pUp=1

All it did was add the problem to Serana and my own character,  the error remained in NPCs.  Though some NPCs as always were unaffected.  I saw elves with the bug as well this time,  but I saw some humans who did not have it just as some elves didn't.

I really wish my fking game wouldn't CTD whenever I try to load a damn save from the main menu.

I just entered once again,  no one I ran into had the glitch until the sixth woman,  who looked like a high elf but mighta been a nord.   I then used the Set Race command to cycle race.   It's completely random.   Changing her into a Breton one moment and a High Elf the next might have both clean,  but then do it again and they could both have the issue,  or breton causes the bug and high elf doesn't,  or vice versa.  (Same with all races).

Including Orc, Khajiit, and Argonian.

Ok... let's try this: I replaced all Astrid teztures textures for vanilla female textures (Hope I didn't confuse folders). Install as a mod, and check it.

Edit: Rats! Is getting worst each time I check the thread. Maybe you should reinstall the whole game.

Edit#2: Of course, the file I send you is not a solution, cause it makes that Astrid will have no burnt texture in her dead. Is just to check how the game reacts with it. If female human bodies are sharing their texture with Astrid's burned corpse, then this should show them with normal texture.

I'll try that after I finish this up.  I'm completely reinstalling all body related things,  switching from UNP to CBBE.

Hopefully this will nuke the problem.  If not then hopefully yours can cut it off at the source.

The problem seems to be gone now.  Though I'm not really satisfied with CBBE.  And it kind of made my character look more dolly.   Meh.    At least I can play now.

Thanks for your help. I'm bookmarking this in case the problem crops up again.

Often times, if a body mod contains an .esp or race mod too. Like...Monli.esp or LadyBody/Demonica.esp. You have to load them on the bottom or close to it (above bashed patch/any merged patches if you use it/them).

Also, if its fine naked (I assume it is since you said its fine when you remove all clothes) then its not a body problem but a clothing problem. I would then start looking at any mods that change vanilla clothings (especially ones that make clothing work on UNP/CBBE or whatever body you use)

Older versions of Schlongs of Skyrim and other body mods had issues with causing the inflicted skin to randomly apply to females. Update these mods to the latest version if you haven't. Otherwise, post your damned papyrus log and load order to provide some actual useful debug information.

It probably a SOS conflict:

"- Slot 52 issues - Any mod that uses this slot will probably have issues with SOS. You can't equip armors using the slot 52 and the body armor at the same time, one will always unequip the other (Bandolier, Elewin Jewelry, A little sexy apparel replacer, are some examples. Also outfit mods that make use of several biped slots)"

I had this problem about a year and a half ago.  Turned out that A little sexy apparel replacer was the culprit.

Well, LSAR works if you don't use SOS or use the Light version so that's not exactly true.

I don't really remember what mods I was using at that time as it was quite a while ago.  I just remember that LSAR was the mod conflicting with the other to cause the texture glitch.  Though you are probably right about it being SOS though... B)

I'm not saying it's either, it's a conflict, both mods work separately but not together.
