Didn't want to be -that- guy, but I'm stumped.

Hi there; thanks for reading! I've just come back to Skyrim with a clean install to see how far the mods have developed (It looks like you guys have done some amazing things over the years!), but I'm having trouble getting some of them to work.

 

In short, none of the sex animations are triggering/playing where they should be.  I'll ask an NPC for a little action, they'll agree but when the time for talk comes to an end, they just stare at me awkwardly as gameplay resumes.  I've read through the FAQ and Troubleshooting guide and followed the steps as closely as I could, but I was hoping somebody more savvy than I could figure this out before I try a full reinstall, because it's taken ages to set up thus far.

Inside the Sexlab in-game options, the Animation Preview section has no options listed. I tried to use MatchMaker to trigger animations but NMM stopped working somewhere down the line (It refuses to add any mods I point it to, including ones that I've previously added) so I tried to manually install it, but it doesn't seem to have activated ingame.

 

If there's any information I've forgotten to provide, please let me know; I'm greatly appreciative for any time that people spend helping me with this.

Some one may be able to give you a more exact answer I'll give you my opinion for now.

First off I prefer Mod Organizer over NMM for lots of reasons but easier trouble shooting of issues is a big one. 

Second You've installed SOS wrong you should only be using one of the three SOS Add on's not all three of them.

Third you don't have FNIS Creature pack installed while you may not intend to use the creature animations I'd be worried that not having creature pack installed might break Sex Lab animations. Mind you I don't know if that's the case because I have never tried to run without FNIS creature pack installed.

Fourth Your using both Submit and defeat while I've seen people say they can work together it always seemed like a bad idea to me since they both cover the same sort of functionality and conflict between they seems very likely.

Fifth Why do you have Patch: * rongphale's "Horsemen Mounted Combat Enh." checked if your not using that mod.

 

Other then that do you have all the mods required buy the mods you installed such as SKSE and Sky UI?

Just a quick comment about FNIS and creature animations. I do not have the creature animations pack installed and never have had, because of zero interest in such things, and my sex lab animations run just fine so I would say that the absence of that pack is not part of the problem.

The mounted combat thing was a misclick. Turned that off now, but sadly it wasn't the cause.

I didn't know about the SOS thing; thanks for that, I'll remember it. I tried using just one, but nothing seemed to change. Same for the Submit and Defeat thing; I've tried to cross off anything that might overlap, but sadly nothing made the animations play.

I do have SkyUI and SKSE, and am running the skse exe for the game. I switched to Mod Organiser; the ui is a little less clear, but it runs a lot smoother. Thanks for the tip!

According to my Mod Organiser I have FNIS Creatures installed and ticked, but my GenerateFNIS For Users log keeps listing it as not being installed. I'm not sure why this is.

And yes, there are 0 animations playing at all, in any scenario. The game will just resume like normal (No invisible bodies or anything. It seemed as though it just didn't know that there was meant to be an animation there at all) in some cases, and in other cases the characters will just stand and stare at eachother indefinitely, with no keyboard inputs working (except the menu).

 

Thanks for your time so far =). I hope there's some simple fix that I'm just overlooking. If I've forgotten to give some information, please let me know.

EDIT: In the in-game menu, Under Mod Configuration>SexLab>Toggle Animations, there are 4 categories to choose from on a drop-down menu (Toggle Animations, Foreplay Animations, Aggressive Animations, Toggle Creatures), but none of them have any other options on that page.  On the 'Animation Editor' submenu, there are no options to select any animations either. The 'Play Animation' bar is greyed out, and none of the dropdown menus have any additional options.

 

It feels as though there simply aren't any custom animations installed into my game. If this could be so, what mod have I missed/broken, and what would you recommend I do?  Many thanks for reading this far!

It sounds like something was installed wrong somewhere. Sexlab under the drop down menu of animations should have 4 pages full of animations with check boxes you can check or uncheck to customize your animations. If you do not have that something is messed up.

 

My first advice is try the clean/rebuild sexlab option which I think is on the last page of the sexlab MCM menu and see if that fixes it. If that doesn't fix it then something was installed wrong, which I am leaning towards since FNIS can't find your creatures pack. It should be listed if everything was installed right on the FNIS output.

I tried reinstalling FNIS, and although it detected the creaturepack, it was still impossible to get animations to play.  So I just did a full reinstall of absolutely everything, set the game up with just the basic mods to get this working, but still the game isn't detecting any custom animations; it's the same as before.  I followed the steps found here;

Religiously. But the in-game Sexlab animtion menu is still totally empty.

 

I'm really baffled; I don't understand modding that well, but I can't fathom a reason for it not detecting any of the animations. I'm correct in thinking they're built into the Sexlab framework, am I not?

One of the Nice things about using Mod Organizer is that if your using it right then none of the mods are in your Skyrim directory so if you reinstall the game you don't have to reinstall the mods. Any thing that's installed under the data directory can be installed with Mod Organizer. Mind you this means that SKSE still needs to be install normally into the Skyrim directory because it's installed outside of the Data directory.

 

Main points as stand now. FNIS says creature pack not installed even though you say it is. FNIS does say it created over 2,000 animations for the mods listed but you say they don't run but your not getting the T pose just no animation. Sex labs MCM menu lists no animations.

 

What happens when you go into ZAZ's MCM menu and click register animations? Does Sex Lab now list the ZAZ animations (Stuff like Pillory and bound animations)? And if it does now list them do they run?

 

Seems like the issue is most likely with your Sex Lab install but it could also be an issue with SKYUI or as always something completely different . If the issue was with FNIS then I would think you would get T poses when the animation where supposed to run.

Since the original post I've done a full reinstall of Skyrim and every mod, since I couldn't pinpoint the actual cause. FNIS Creatures is now being detected and loaded. However, I haven't reinstalled the ZAZ animations. You're correct in thinking I'm not getting the T pose, though. I'm not sure exactly where the problem is. However! Good news!

 

A tiny bit of progress has been made. After playing around with these folders for far too long, I don't know exactly what I did but now in-game the Sexlab animation menu is loading all of the animations; they're all listed, with their tickboxes and everything. Making sure they're ticked, and with animations enabled, I tried using Matchmaker, Workinggirl and Defeat (Not all at once) to engage in a little fin and games. The sex event triggers just fine; control over the character is lost, the characters derobe, and the sound effects play. However; the animations themselves don't play. The characters strip, stare at eachother, become naked and make sounds, but there are no custom animations; the characters simply use their Idle Standing animation until the deed is done. There's even the finishing effects (screen shakes if it's enabled) and the record is kept inside the diary in the Sexlab menu.

 

This definitely feels like progress though. I can't explain why this happens, but below I'll attach some more logs, to hopefully shed some light.

 

 

How are you installing this mods with MO or NMM or manually?

I use MO for all of them, but if any of them don't appear in-game I'll go back and do them manually through the readme files. I've had to do this for a few thus far, but I remember not which. FNIS for sure.

But I only have one log in my folder, and that's from ~20 hours ago. I've opened/closed the game about 6 times since then, and no logs have been created. I've tried turning bEnableLogging off and back on again, but no more logs are being created. I'm unsure what caused the change between now and yesterday.

 

EDIT:  And yeah, Defeat isn't showing. However, in-game is loads up and functions; I can get my character knocked down in combat, and the 'event' begins; characters strip, controls are locked and sounds play, but none of the animations do.  Is there something I can do to help point the game in the right direction?

 

EDIT 2:  I should note that where the animations should be playing, the characters are using their idle standing animation. However, when I press Space to advance the animation stage, the characters twitch a little (as they try to load the next animation, I imagine). I'm not sure if that's valuable information or not, so I thought I'd mention.

Read SkyUI's instructions, they tell you a command to enter to have it check for missing MCM menus.

Everything functioning with the exception that characters just stand there idle during SexLab animation, is 100% an FNIS install error. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I don't care how convinced anybody is that they installed FNIS correctly, this is unavoidably an FNIS issue, the only possible SexLab answer to this problem would be if "Reading SexLab V1.59c ..." wasn't showing up in your debug log, in which case it's still an FNIS issue, you're just missing the SexLab FNIS files that come with SexLab by default.

 

If you're using ModOrganizer, FNIS must be installed, and run from MO (infact, with the exception of SKSE or ENB presets, if you're ever installing or running something without going through ModOrganizer to get there, you have severely fucked up.) Also check the FNIS install for conflicts that may be causing problems.

 

in your FNIS log:

Hi there! Thanks for the reply. I've just reinstalled FNIS through MO (It always tells me there's no Data on top level, so I go through 2 layers unto MO tells me it's looking good). I then reinstalled XP32 Skeleton Enhanced, sorted the list again with LOOT, but running the FNIS log still reads that the default skeleton is being used. 

 

I don't doubt there's a user error somewhere, but XP32 comes with no manual install instructions and I've reinstalled it through MO several times with no changes. I have the Realistic Ragdolls and Force prerequisite mod installed which I overlooked previously, but it's not changed the FNIS log.

 

Inside the FNIS install, there are 52 listed conflicts, under the "The following conflicts are provided by this mod" section. There are 0 conflicts provided by other mods. FNIS has the green-plus lightning bolt icon for 'Overwrite files' beside it in the MO menu.  I assume this is what you meant; sorry if I've misunderstood.

 

Any thoughts you have a greatly appreciated.
