Nergui Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Others... Â There is no "rex" in the name of "tyrannosaurus" (tyrant lizard), this is a hollywood invention. A Velociraptor (speedy predator) is similar in size to a goose and had plumes as well as scales. Those big things in Jurassic Park were a different species. Â Dinosauria are not extinct, these days we call them birds.
SquallPT Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Now for something epic   RIP Richard Attenborough
Sarathis Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The idea that dinosaurs all evolved into birds is still a highly contested theory in the scientific community. It's currently the most popular one, hence why it's being touted as the truth but it's by no means certain. One of the biggest problems with the theory is the fact that birds already existed during the time of the dinosaurs. Then there's the relatively quick transition (from an evolutionary perspective) from when dinosaurs existed to when they did not. If they had evolved there would be a lot more fossil evidence of the different species which would have developed between full grown dinosaurs and the birds of the Cenozoic era. While they are more closely akin to birds in anatomy than any other creature we've discovered on Earth, that doesn't necessarily mean that they turned into birds, even if some species did have feathers.
