sharonasbar12 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I have 22 skyui mods installed. They all work perfectly. When I start a new game, it takes about 5 minutes to set all the mods up. Is there a mod that would save all the mod settings for me? Sexlab does this, but it's the only one.
Content Consumer Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I've been wondering this myself... not necessarily a mod, but if there is some way to have, like, a text file with preset options that automatically get loaded when starting a new game? Or some way to save my current settings to a file that I can reload next time, either in-game or otherwise?
Rayblue Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 22... that's a lot compared to only eight that I really have to use in-game.
Content Consumer Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I have 21 MCM menus (give or take - changes depending on which mods I'm trying out at any given time). I only ever have to set up around 12-17, though, since the defaults on most of the rest are fine. All in all, it usually takes me around ~5 minutes to set up all menus. Maybe less; I haven't actually timed it or anything. Five minutes isn't a lot of time, really, but it would just streamline things and make it just that much easier to start new games... which, due to the nature of many LL mods having new and better updates on a fairly regular basis, happens a lot.

Veladarius Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Oh how I wish there was, I have 40 of them damn things.
b3lisario Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Start a new game, configure all MCM stuff and make a new savegame. Next time you start a game, do it from the configured savegame.

Guest Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You're in luck. There is a mod that already does this - FISS, it's a godsend for hopeless altoholics like me. The trouble is, Ive also got about 20 MCM based mods and most don't currently have FISS support for transferable profiles. But there are a few out there that do, like Enchanted Arsenal and Dynamic Potions (both essential so that's cool) and Minimal HUD, though hopefully Less Intrusive HUD II gets it soon as I much prefer it.

Not if you used something like Skyrim Unbound. You can wait til Skyrim's loaded and all the MCMs have registered, make your setup changes to them all, save, then run Skyrim Unbound's menu each time you start a new game.

That's true, I use Alternate Start and that can work... except if you want to try out a game WITHOUT a mod you already had in the save. Many (most?) mods work okay if you remove them, I've found... even those that say "never remove this mod or your computer will implode" sort of thing... but there are a few that cause some serious stability issues if removed mid-game, or even just during that initial startup stage. I haven't tried FISS, though... am I correct in understanding that you have to set up a "profile" for each MCM-using mod?

Modders could encourage their users to upload their profiles for everyone to share, or even just integrate them in their mod and then you just pick a profile from it's MCM menu. But yes, otherwise it's a one-time configuration effort. Again though, you could have several configs to suit different circumstances - that's what I'm doing with Enchanted Arsenal - mixed enchantment load outs for elementalist mages and exclusively frosty ones for necros or whatever. Same with Dynamic Potions, like a profile that only amends food that's eaten, or one that emphasises poison effectiveness.
