Just got New Vegas

Its my birthday today and I got Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition. I (being me) will eventually mod the hell out of it, but for now will just want light stuff to smooth out any rough edges. Does anyone have any suggestions for enhancing appearance, gameplay, and good additional quests that work with the main story line?

Just going through the top 100, both adult and non-adult on the nexus and getting what sounds good to you is the best place to start.

Personally I would reccomend SexoutNG, Sexout Tryouts and SexoutHookups from this site, and Realistic Battle and Dynamic Combat, Wasteland rePopulated, Populated Casinos, Imp's More Complex Needs, New Vegas Error Corrections, New Vegas Bounties (1 & 2), Willow Companion, Yam's Pinup Parade, Weapon Mods Expanded and WeaponJamming.

For (your characters) appearence I would go with Mojave Delight.

Personally I like lings for npc beautification but there are several to choose from over at the nexus.

Lings is no longer available at the crapsus site but google will find it for you in a jiffy. PM me if you want it but can't find it.

Mikoto is another big beautification one: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=35878

All of the stuff Kashked listed are very good as well :)

Other stuff worth mentioning:

IWS (increased wasteland spawns)

Warzones - Misanthropy Pure (this sucker makes the wasteland a warzone!!!!)

XFO - (this mod as a number of seperate esp files that allow you to pick an choose which to install to tweak that aspect of the game that you want. Nice to be able to choose one tweak without having to put up with 20 others you DON'T want).

Readius NV - (this removes the crappy looking pip boy and replaces it with a handheld unit that looks MUCH more modern AND cool) :)

MCM - (mod configuration menu) - this will be required by sexout mods

NVSE - (new vegas script extender) - a MUST install for most mods to work! Link: http://nvse.silverlock.org/ NOTE: if you are running Win7 and have at least 3GB of memory there is a link further down the NVSE page to the 4GB patch EXE. I highly recommend this as it gives the game more room before suffering memory overruns and crashing.

Don't forget to grab male and female body replacers along with clothes to match that body type!!!

Does that version actually work for you?

The FNV4GB launcher doesn't seem to work for me at all. Win7 x64, 16GB ram. It will launch fallout NV, but it doesn't seem to actually use any more memory, and the silly loader EXE never exits. If I launch and play the game five times and quit, I'll have five of them sitting in my process list doing nothing except wasting memory.

That said, crashes are pretty rare for me as is.

I've never used the large address executable as it seems Fallout never uses more than 2 and a half gigs of RAM.

Well, I have crashed at least once and noticed that I was above the 2GB limit (3.1GB to be precise). So based on that I have to say it is working for me anyway.

I don't have any trouble quitting and restarting what-so-ever and the loader is gone the moment I quit. Strange.....

I do have steam installed to my D drive and am running Win7 home premium with 12GB of RAM and a single 560Ti card. Perhaps I am just lucky?

The loader GUI exits for me right away, and the game launches and plays fine, but the actual game process remains in the process list of the task manager after I've quit. It isn't using any CPU at that point, and not much memory either, but it just.. stays there until I kill it.

All installed to C:, default locations.

Win7 Professional x64

AthlonII x4 935 (not OC'd)

4x4GB (16GB) DDR-something

single GTX 560Ti

I always like to play games non-modded at first so I'd recommend doing a "clean playthrough" first. The game is so replayable anyways that it's easy to have another go and add mods as one see fit.

Very strange.....maybe being in the program files directory messes with it somehow. I forgot to mention that I also use game companion v1.3 but I doubt that makes any difference as just allows the game to be run in windowed mode.

Perhaps it could have something to do with your processor as I have an intel? Kinda grabbing at straws to see what it could possibly be.

I played it last night till the first fight at Goodsprings with the Powder Gangers. I'm actually impressed, it "feels" better than Fallout 3 though there are a few things I already want to tweak. The nights aren't dark enough, I don't like the perk every other level (I love perks), and the water canteen doesn't seem immersive enough. I also see that Talkie Toaster has made a Robco Certified for New Vegas. So I think my "light" mod list for a first play through will be this.

DUI - I want more info on my screen, just smaller font and tucked away.

Pipboy Readius

A weather/darker nights mod

Robco Certified

More Perks

XFO's double perks - I'll adjust the game hardness if its not challenging enough

Imps More Complex Needs - I liked running this in Fallout 3.

Plus Breeze and a female body replacer - Not as important, I got kids so the naughty stuff needs to be done on a seperate profile/2nd run.

If the wasteland feels too empty I'll try out the npc and creature mods suggested above.

That should be enough to get me started, concidering I play a loaded FCOM install on Oblivion, I'll eventually load things up for my 2nd run through, but that will be a Sexus version focusing on Sewer Slave which will likely be VERY difficult to actually play. :P
