followers wearing certain armor

hi everyone.....can I get some help please? my problem is that I wanted my follower to wear a specific armor....so after having her try on several types of armor I decided on the one that I wanted her to wear....the problem is that every time I either leave an interior cell or fast travel she stops wearing the one that I gave her and wears one of the other ones that I tried on her from before..... even though she doesn't have it in her inventory ....and its always the same armor that she switches to? so, i'll take the armor that I don't want her to wear out of her inventory and she'll switch back to the one that I chose for her to wear but it happens all over again as soon as I load into another cell? any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated

Use Amazing Follower Tweaks or UFO or some sort of follower overhaul.  They have ways to control what followers wear that work much better than vanilla.

I have UFO and puppetmaster.....didn't know I can use UFO? but shouldn't puppetmaster work? I don't understand that she keeps switching to armor that isn't even in her inventory? but when I remove it she wears what I gave her and switches back again as soon as I either leave an interior cell or fast travel?

The armor she is putting on is part of her outfit and is separate from the normal inventory. UFO and AFT can let you change their outfit and it should stay that way (at least until they reset normally). If the outfit is changing back then Puppetmaster is likely just removing the old items and equipping the new which will make her reset on cell change. Outfits can be a pain to get past because of this.

thanks for the help......so....is there anyway to keep her from resetting back to the armor that i don't want her to wear? i don't understand why or how she can wear a armor that isn't in her invetory and when i remove it she reaquips it again?

The outfit is a part of their inventory but is normally not visible. In Skyrim the only way to see it normally is to have the pick pocket perk for having a 100 in the skill. UFO and AFT do a decent job of getting the npc's to use what you want but Skyrim can be relentless when it comes time to reset them, luckily the time it takes is usually about 20 days. One of the other ways to trigger the reset is to remove their outfit completely, if you want to set an npc to naked give them a ring or something like that for their outfit, that may keep it from thinking that they have nothing.

I have UFO but there's no dialogue that I see to get her to wear the armor that I want...I've been using" lets see what's in your inventory" and placing what I want her to wear in there....I've tried the strip spell with no success and I can't pickpocket her either? it's driving me nuts that she keeps switching back to the other armor. I even dismissed with the armor that I want her to wear and as soon as I dismissed her didn't she put on the armor that I don't want her to wear...WTF?

The only sure-fire way to stop that is to edit the esp the follower is added by, or if they are vanilla make your own esp.

Try that.
