Both. A ton of people use the built in voice functionality and a ton don't. I prefer voice since it affords me the ability to continue scripting/building content while chatting. With typing I have to close my editor window and type in the chat window.

Almost all of the weapons and goodies are either found while playing or, in the case of other items you can buy from the vendor, you can gain EP (event points) to pay for them. The game can played be anywhere you can place the missions.

Just going to assume you were being snarky with this comment. Second Life isn't a "game" at all, it's a virtual world. Within the virtual world you can simulate games and people often do... there's a fairly strong role-playing faction in Second Life each with their own game mechanics and mechanisms for doing simulation. In my case, I'm very familiar with the Old West role-playing sim community and ours were generally simulated with a HUD you wear that detects collisions with your avatar from bullets, arrows, knives, etc. and registers them as damage. That's just one example. The world itself is only a virtual world simulation, what you do in the world is up to you and there's very little in the way of limitations to your imagination as to what you can do. The starter avatars (what you called classes) are no more permanent than a t-shirt or a pair of jeans. You can change body shapes, hair, skin, eyes, clothes, tattoos, eyelashes, makeup, species, gender or pretty much anything else at the drop of a hat by just attaching or wearing something new. You can save an outfit as a folder and just wear the folder to replace what you're currently wearing. For me, if I wanted, I could be a robot, a vampire, a western gunfighter, a samurai, a giant tarantula...all in less than a minute in quick succession.

Anyway. Nonsense667, I'm not sure if there is another video of TiS game play, but if you join the "TiS game" group, I'm sure you can find some one playing a game or willing to start one to show you how it goes. Also, the class names are mostly jokes and sex based like the game. You are not limited to what you can use or wear and can say you are what you want to be.

 

I will tell you right now that there is a heavy amount of male and female/other rape. And when I mean rape, I mean the heavy anal type. So if you play with others and are not into that, Hang back and watch ^_~

It's not all jokes, but for a sex game, having classes named Furry, Gimp, Pornstar, and Pimp make a lot of sense. There are some puns here and there, but not all in your face. Like a crafting item called "Cross-dressing" that is used to make "Cross-salad". Some of the newer missions would also have a bit more in the story and joke areas, but not that bad. Not to me no, it doesn't "make sense." (And I'm the expert on nonsense obviously! ) I love sex involved within a game, and I also love for sex to be the focus of some games. But that still doesn't mean that pointless "sexing up" to the point of unbelievability is a good thing for these games. For me the sex is better if there is believability behind it. I can believe that I female space commando/trader/scout/colonist was on a mission and got raped by an alien in her vagina in order for the alien to breed. I can't believe that a pornstar/gimp/pimp is wondering around space and gets fucked in their ass by an alien because it was horny. I am aware that I am probably in the minority here, as I see so much unbelievable sex in games/comics/stories/etc. but for me, and I assume at least one or two others out there, its a total turn off. (ps. I also despise "sex energy" that so many hentai's love to use as a gimmick.)

I have the pervert Pornstar class (a support class), but I have dressed like a spec-ops character, my version of the scout from TF2, and a space alien. I signed up to try and get into the adult scene a couple' months ago - but its so vast, confusing and deep that I managed ti do little more than teleport to some dance club, find a 'shop' that seemed to only consist of posters (more likely I just didn;t know how to work it), a place with loads of those interaction point things I didn't know how to work, then got lost in the trillions of places you could go. I gave up and never signed back in. I've been gaming for two decades; if i'm having problems learnign the ropes and controls it sets off alarm bells.

Well, I can certainly go start a group (it costs 100L) and provide the name here so people can request entrance or I can simply make it free to join which is easier. That way people new to SL can ask questions in the group chat and experienced SLers like myself can answer them. Some things I'd suggest are that if you intend to use SL as a source of adult entertainment, you should go through the age verification process which will allow you to access adult rated locations. If you use a credit card to buy in game money or to purchase a premium membership or pay land fees, your credit card will suffice to give you this same age verification as well.

 

Edit: I created a group with the name "LoversLab in SL", it costs nothing to join. Once logged into the game click the search button, choose Groups as the category to search and enter the text "LoversLab" to search for it. Once you find it in search results, open the group information and look for the "Join" button. Click it and you should be good to go. If you have any trouble finding the group or joining the group, send an instant message in game to my account with the name Jeredin Denimore and I'll send you a group invitation. It may take a little while before their search engine indexes the group so you might not find it in search for from now to 48 hours from now.

I may be getting my signals crossed here.. It's difficult to determine emphasis on the printed word.

 

First off.. Forced play/rape in Second life IS consensual. Even with a "Joberg" style relay on (We call it a RLV relay in Second Life) you still have control over what your assailant can and cannot do. It's merely the illusion of being forced...It's a lot less severe than what happens to your avatar in Oblivion!

 

Second: All, and yes I mean all, of the decent roleplayers in my sim are really great people. They are the nicest bunch of degenerates you would ever want to meet... Except when doing a RP scene.. then we are mean, nasty and rude. But that ends and we all go have a smoke together.. no one is REALLY getting forced. It's only fantasy. I'm not saying that everyone in there is cool, there are some idiots.. the SL World is FULL of morons that think they are the last Master/Dom ever and I will not stand up for their actions, but I do laugh at them given the opportunity.

Righty. Signed up, even spent a little moneyz, and am downloading the client. Hopefully this time I will be able to figure out the basics and not get frustrated.

 

Edit: Hehe, i'm lost again. I am however in the LL group. So when people are online it might be easier to figure this stuff out.

 

Edit: A couple of days in, i've experianced a bit of the adult scene, and so far i'm sadly not too impressed. Living on 'freebie' items, it is hard to make an avatar that doesn't look like a Pug with Morrowind-era 'Better Bodies'. Then again the game is roughly the same age, so I shouldn't complain.

 

I also found that there are a stupid number of 'HUD' and 'Systems' on the various servers, and few adult scenes use the same ones. A few even charge with no trial of their system. Most of there servers are also practically dead, or just a bunch of random sex animations in a chatroom format, and clusterfucks of props and items.

 

I found one reasonable server with a stable population. It was a forest island where male 'hunters' would chase around women, and then chain them up and drag them off to do 'unspeakable' things to them. But, the problem was that even though it was an RP server no one seemed to want to RP except one person. Most seemed to want to do a very soft and carebear approach to it all. For most of them it was much more of the bodace-ripper theme than interactive LoversTrueCrime/WorkgirlTryout, which is what I was looking for. Despite its horrfic graphics, Sociolotron did that better - at least before it pretty much died (there just isn't enough of a population anymore, and the fact that 'attackers' are actually villified as players by the 'gangs'.).

 

What I was looking for seemed to be mostly centered around 'Gorean' servers. From what I understand, a series of dark fantasy books. On top of the fact that most of these servers had strict dress codes (that would have cost real world cash or months of looking around for the right freebies), immense and strict rulebooks, and their own 'systems' that needed to be installed... Well. All in all I gave it a pass for the time being. If I end up reading said-books and getting to know the setting, I may have a go.

 

Generally, I feel I can get a better experiance from Single Player areas. Still, I haven't uninstalled, so may try-try-try again.

Okay guys, I need your help. Back last time I played Second life, there were two role play areas that I loved. But I can't remember the names. I am sure that sensual stoneworks ran one, and may have ran the other as well. One was a castle thing, with various objects to interact with from sensual stoneworks,(I could have sworn the teleporter to it was right near the sensual stoneworks store area.) and the other was an "abandoned space station" thing. (actually, were there two different space ones???? D:) Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about, I am trying to find these, if they are still alive.
