rance Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Ever since I started to use a new computer (Windows 7 64bits) and installed Skyrim there, my game has started to crash and act weird. How? It crashes at times when I load a saved game, randomly during the wilderness (just once) and the intro during a new game is buggy at times (the cart goes nuts and bounces around). Now, I have used the same configuration back when I used my previous machine, which basically had the same hardware and software and mods... EXCEPT it was a Windows 7 32bits. With the SKSE.ini memory allocation lines, it stopped crashing and worked fantastically... Something I was unable to do with my new computer. Is there a possibility that, because Skyrim was designed to be used with 32bits OS, my new computer is unable to run it well?
germanicus Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 It is not matter if you have W7 64 since 64 OS reeds and run 32 bits application. I have W7 64 professional and it doesn't make any problems. There is something wrong or missing in your W7 64 that can't run 32 bit applications properly.
vagonumero13 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I don't see any reason for a 64 bits os to create any problems, they run 32 bits programs with same compatibility. It is true that the OS loads a few dll's more, which are needed for 32-64 bits transitions before doing syscalls, but I doubt those dll take up more than 1-10 MB / each 32 bits process. Anyways, how many ram do you have free before loading Skyrim?
Rayblue Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 It crashes at times when I load a saved game, randomly during the wilderness (just once) and the intro during a new game is buggy at times (the cart goes nuts and bounces around). Don't allow to have any mods enabled during the prison cart intro (enable them only after Helgen), or you could download a gamesave that skips the intro entirely. Finally you may have to clean up the masters with TES5edit, then install USKP and SKSE 1.7 or SSME.
sbire Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 try following; in skyrim main menue; enter console and type "coc whiterun" then load your prefered savegame. this fixed my loading savegame ctd.
