Storms of Superior Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I have a problem with Skyrim crashing at times when it seems like it should be stable. This isn't a Skyrim issue; I looked up the CPU usage in Task Manager, and the crashes seem to coincide with cpu usage spikes. I have a quadcore processor. Is there any way to force it to share the load so usage spikes don't oocur?
myuhinny Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Have you tried turning off anything that you do not need running that might help. The more things you have running in the background the more your CPU will get spikes.
Storms of Superior Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 It seems like the only things running are windows services and processes. I have a clean Windows installation, so it's got to be Windows eating my cpu. I would really like for the inactive cores of my processor to be used. They seem to be useless.
Benmc20 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I don't know if you use the STEP ini's tweaks for multicore, but try to restrain the Skyrim usage of cores of two maximum. Since the 1.9 patch, it's the most stable for me (at 1.8 patch, i could use my 4 cores with my i5 Sandy Bridge without crash, now it's purely impossible).
