Using multiple body meshes across multiple NPCs

Recommended Posts

I know I can mod npc outfits and inventory, and can modify their face. if I'm particularly industrious, I can use mod hair and eyes.

But what i want to know is what would be the best way (not necessarily easiest way) to assign different body meshes to different NPCs in game. Say Adrianne as CBBE, Belethor as Better Males and so on... but other vanilla peoples remain vanilla.

What would be the best way to do this? I could use PS Universal Body Changer, but I have to be in proximity of the person for that to work. I'm talkin about installing (or building) a mod to do this, so when I meet them they're already changed. So that a "bandit chief" looks more like some kinda badass.

[edit] I'll bet the whole "custom race" thing is going to come up. Is that the "best" way to do such? You can't 'assign' a body mesh without going thru all the other modding bits associated with custom races?

You could pick body meshes of vastly different shapes for example: UNPetite for 0% and 7Base for 100%, or to fit your taste or goal.
Then you could use something like http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51612/? which will randomize the body size distribution, there are options to affect different races at different proportion ranges. Assuming you use a bodyslide, you could set the armors to fit the meshes.

In theory it would work for men, but finding the body meshes for armors to fit the style you want might be a tad more difficult to find.
Good luck

- NPC body meshes (all races, males and females):

Script free. This feature works only in combination with the above texture feature. Furthermore it only replaces the meshes of the naked body, no armor/clothes meshes.

Therein lies the rub.

This is a great implementation. The problem is that, like other mods, they do all the work for the body meshes but leave out the outfits. Nekkid chicks is great and all, but . . . you know.

If you call a different dir for the body mesh, why not account for the matching outfits in that same dir?

Thanks. That's probably the best feasible implementation so far.

If you're willing to open up and do some work in the CK, using multiple body meshes is totally possible. I use this multi body texture mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15047/?, a long with this custom vanilla armor path mod http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14871/? (the older version works better for me). Just follow the instructions listed on the page and you should be good to go. It's not that difficult really, I had no CK experience prior to using these two mods.

Use EBD every body is different and allow the system a assign a body type to it. or use the spell included to switch npc appearance.

Right now it does not have the ability to fully customize bodies yet but the author is still working on it.

It can change body meshes, but will only use the installed outfits for one body mesh.

To answer the nude female part, using body slide with the setting you would make on body slide for the nude women, you can easily body slide the armor to fit. This would only require you to find armor and clothing that can be manipulated via bodyslide then once you make your body, save the settings so that it can be used quickly.
