Guest Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 This one is for the artsy of you! I'm drawing a picture of Sona from LoL. Part of it seems to be going quite smooth (ie the areas which are lined) and others.. well not so well. The hands and face especially. I wanted to make the hands coming together but it's pretty hard considering the picture size. Note: I haven't finished the picture so that's why the hair looks like that Anyway, let me know what you guys think!
Molevalence Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I am not an artist. I have not drawn in over 10 years. I know Sona quite well from League of Legends. She is my favorite support champion. All I can say is if you're having trouble drawing hands, if you can find someone who can pose like in the drawing you could at least get a physical idea where to start instead of drawing from imagination.
Shadowhawk827 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Good advice in the last post. Most of the old school animation artists actually kept maquettes (statues) of the characters they were drawing so they could view the character from any angle. The drawing is pretty good though. Better than I could do, esp with hands, lol. If you're not happy with your skill level though, keep practicing and maybe pick up a book on drawing from a store or the torrents. Time and effort are the only ways to improve at anything. You've got talent too.
Myst42 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 For human figure it's nice to draw people from photos, or even copy other drawings Hands and forearms need to be bigger Hate massive boobs... That's just me.... ranting It it moves your kink that's fine Face and hands are always the trickiest I suck as a painter. But I manage as a black/white drawer I learnt what little I know by looking and copying, specially from Luis Royo. Best. Human. Figure. Ever Anime's different though You're on good path.
AKM Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The lips are far better in the updated version, yet you got rid of the really nicely done hands...? Why? They were really nice! I've heard hands are the one of the most difficult aspects to get right, but yours looked good, though the size might be just a bit small for the arms in the original. That sort's not my strong suit.

Lagoon0654 Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Breasts are waaay too small. need to go bigger. Aside from that, I don't "critic" artwork, but I'll rate it 9/10.

Arcturus Fyr Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Although the hand and arm positions have improved, I find the 'Lips' of the previous picture better, it seems to give the character a more natural and modest look, rather than just a random puckered/kissy face throwing off the picture some. The art overall is pretty good though, is this a personal project, or a commission? Edit: I forgot to mention the lips of the previous picture adds more emotion due to the smile.

Personal work, I don't trust myself (nor do I have the popularity) to do commissions. I don't know what it was, but something about the first version of the lips bothered me, I liked the emotion but something was off to me but I couldn't put my finger on it.

Regardless, with practice comes perfection. If you're proud of your work, then you got my support.
