Sherbertfox Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I recently installed a group of mods and after looking through each of them the modders had them listed as all compatible with each other, no problem there. After installing them all I loaded up SKSE, it worked fine but the resolution was wrong for my settings so I loaded up the default launcher to readjust my resolution back to the values it's supposed to be, now whenever I go back to SKSE to run it, it immediately CTDs with no error screen or something to tell me what I've done or possibly have done. SKSE worked fine until I touched the default launcher now it won't. Does anyone know how to fix? Edit: Neither SKSE or Default Skyrim will start now, both will immediately CTD after displaying the Bethesda logo
myuhinny Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Almost 99% of the time a CTD after displaying the Bethesda logo means you are either missing a master or it is placed below the one that needs it. TES5Edit http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/? Download it unzip it and run the .exe that is in it. It will start to load up every .esp/.esm that you have installed if it hits a error in your load order it will stop and tell you why it stopped in the bottom right hand area read it fix it close TES5Edit and repeat start TES5Edit till it is able to load everything up without hitting any errors then try your game again.
TnTTnT Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Maybe the launcher change your load or order of mods. Check it datafile list in you launcher that all mods you would like to run are tick there. Better yet, use LOOT to sort your load order and use TES5Edit as myuhinny suggest to check for conflict. For mods conflict I still prefer Wrye Bash over TES5Edit.
gvman3670 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Heck, for mod conflict all you need is Mod Organizer and LOOT. That'll clear it all right up, even show you exactly what is conflicting with what and offer suggestions to fix it.
Sherbertfox Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Thanks everyone I'll try these suggestions immediately and get back to you

gvman3670 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 When I was using NMM I once launched from the default launcher to set up my documents/my games/Skyrim folder and after doing that I had plugins become disables. It was a pain in the ass and I think I had to uninstall and reinstall NMM to get it working again.
Sherbertfox Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 I think I may just give up then because the Uni I stay at has a bandwidth limiter and for me to fix all this I have a feeling I'll literally have to delete Skyrim, SKSE the Mods and NMM and then just start from scratch when I have access to unlimited net again which absolutely sucks since I though I could fix this.
Sherbertfox Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Yes I do, I eventually got it to run but then it told me it's not compatible with my version of SKSE which was 1.6.3 I believe and it would only run with 1.7+ which is the current alpha build for SKSE. But I've uninstalled everything deleted everything in data, and turned off everything in NMM. I'll start again fresh at some point
gvman3670 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I am using SKSE 1.6.16 still and even LOOT tells me it's up to date. But I haven't moved up to newer SexLab versions, and I am still running SL 1.35 (and the appropriate mod versions for it of course). I am reluctant to update with all the changes happening so quickly in the last month or more since my versions are running absolutely flawlessly as it is.
Sherbertfox Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Well I tweaked around with the Mod Editor and what I found was that I could run everything despite some telling me I was missing files which I know for a fact I installed, so I turned those off. The moment I used SKSE when I pressed "New Game" it just came up with that error. As I said I've scrapped it all and will probably start from scratch, so I'll probably open this up again

Next time make back up of all files you download so you don't have to download everything again. If you use SKSE 1.6 use SSME it do same as 1.7 version for memory patch and its real easy to install, will make your game ALOT better.

The mods are backed up just not the game, and it's one problem after another I apparently have an SKSE file I can't delete skse_steam_loader.dll because it's in use when neither Skyrim is being used, the other SKSE files have been removed and I even tried to remove it while steam was closed. Luck just isn't on my side at the moment because I refuse to try again until I remove everything that could have potentially botched this and go through the whole process again a lot more meticulously Edit: What's SSME?
Sherbertfox Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Marked as solved because problem has been fixed (conflict from apparently the .esm for Devious Expansions not existing) attempting to fix that myself now but may open a new thread at some point. Thank you everyone for pointing me in the right direction
