grinch89 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Hey everyone, I am very, VERY, new to modding and am still trying to get used to all of this. I have been using nmm and have downloaded all of my other mods through it (skse, cbbe, hdt physics, etc...). I'm really not sure what mod order I should have these things in. Also, I have read that some people say not to download some of the mods through nmm. If so, which ones should not be in nmm? I am looking for new body mods, with a great skin patch, and I would line to have breast and butt physics with them. I also want to run some of the sex lab mods also. Any help as to what to install, and in what order(with/without nmm) would be greatly appreciated!
RitualClarity Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The order that the authors state they should be inI'm really not sure what mod order I should have these things in. Download TESedit 5, install it and run it. If there aren't any errors you are good to go for the next step. ( solves missing masters) Download LOOT and run it. It will give a readout of all potential issues that it sees and order the mods according to the masters found in the mods files headers and any exceptions reported to the LOOT team. Finally follow and do any small tweaks that the author has stated to do if Loot has changed this order. Might not be needed but . might still . Also, I have read that some people say not to download some of the mods through nmm. If so, which ones should not be in nmm? I dont' use NMM. Most here don't use NMM. Most here uses MO for their Skyrim mods. Ashal the creator of Sexlab also recommends MO for Skyrim. I am looking for new body mods, with a great skin patch, and I would line to have breast and butt physics with them. I also want to run some of the sex lab mods also. Any help as to what to install, and in what order(with/without nmm) would be greatly appreciated! the rest is trial and error and personal preference so you are on your own there. Look around the thread at skryim screenshots and such .. See something you like ask what was used for creating that .. Best advice I can give not that matter. However I believe Sexlab standard body is UNPB bodies for females and SOS /average for males. There is a thread on that here.
AwfulArchdemon Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 It depends on what you want. NMM is fine, and there are very few mods NMM doesn't install right. If you're "very VERY new to modding", NMM is a great starter manager. It's when you install hundreds of mods that you'll start running into conflicts. These conflicts will end up being impossible to fix eventually, because many mods use the same file paths and file names, meaning one mod gives you bandit_armor.nif, and another mod has a file that also says bandit_armor.nif, so one mod overwrites the other file. That means you no longer have the old nif file, which will mess you up if you uninstall the second, overwriting mod. The file will still be overwritten, and unstalling it will take the nif file out, so you no longer have the file that mod 1 needs to work, causing your game to crash to desktop (CTD). After you've installed a ton of mods, it becomes a nightmare to track down the offending mod, and people usually have to reinstall Skyrim over this. The thing is, people also usually try again to install their mods, and end up with the exact same problem, thus driving people crazy. This maddening process can easily be avoided by using Mod Organizer. No overwrites, no actual file installation, no worries. About bodies and skins: I use the XP32 skeleton for physics, CBBE, CHSBHC (also for physics), Sunburns, and plenty of CHSBHC armor conversions. If you plan on using Silmeria, and many people here do, installing bod mods will be a problem, due to the fact that they use 2 different file structures. If you use her sexy ass, let me know, and I'll give you instructions (not as hard as I'm making it sound). As for SexLab mods, well, it's all about preference. My bread & butter is: SL, Aroused, Lovers Comfort, Working Girl, Cumshot, Sanguine's Debauchery +, Defeat, Sex Addicts, and some voice change mods like the Dark Side (for SA), gagged sounds, and SexLab voice replacer. Outside of SL (kinda), I use Private Needs, Private Needs BM (if you use the very latest version of PN, PN BM should not be necessary), Realistic Needs and Diseases, the Flying Mod, Animated Dragon Wings (those 2 together are amazing), Invincible Mage, Sexy Solitude/Windhelm/Winterhold/etc, Riverwood Redone (Gold), and over a hundred others. If you want the kids to look human, I use Xvision children. If you have Hearthfire, and you find that the kids look really ugly, and adult-esque, or their faces don't match their bodies, I use (created) Hearthfire Aesthetics to make them look human again. Google around. There are trillions of mods for Skyrim.
grinch89 Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Thanks guys! I'll keep doing some research. Y'all have helped to point me in the right direction though!
RitualClarity Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 There are many links that might be useful in my sig.

grinch89 Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Ok, I got rid of nmm and am using MO. I have all of the environment mods and stuff set up and working, when I tried installing race menu, and enhance character edit, it doesn't seem to be working. Neither is apache sky hair or any of my unp programs. They aren't showing up in my plugins list. Any idea of load order for those things?
RitualClarity Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 If you followed the install instructions for those mods completely and it is just that the plugins aren't showing up in the list it might be that you need to adjust the files in the MO. Sometimes mods aren't packed properly for MO to see off the bat. During installation you can manually install and then right click on the " data " folder and make that the default. If needed at that time you can make any re-arrangements of the files as needed.
gvman3670 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Race Menu and ECE don't usually play nice together and if it's the newest RM then they don't play together at all. So pick one and run with it. I much prefer ECE since it's easier to achieve the results I want with it. But either will get the job done. Textures and body replacers don't have plugins. They just run straight out of MO's virtual data folder. Just pay attention to them in the left pane and if you see a lightning bolt it means there are overwrites going on. If there's a plus that mod is overwriting something else, and if it's a minus sign something is overwriting it. If you have both then, obviously, there's some of each going on. To achieve the overwrites you want (or don't) simply drag the mod up/down the list and drop it. Remember!! What comes last always wins the overwrite battle. So if you want something to not be overwritten simply move it lower in the list to below whatever overwrites it.
grinch89 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 Thanks for the info! I am starting to feel a little more comfortable with this stuff, thanks to these forums! haven't had a chance to mess with it yet, but will soon.
gvman3670 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I found LoversLab to be one of the friendliest forums on the 'net. And with a LOT of very helpful people. Plus the amount of talent here is unreal. And originally I just thought it would be a bunch of pervs! Psssstt! Not that it isn't.

grinch89 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 In Mod Organizer, it has some of my mods grayed out on the left side. When I hover over it, it tells me "...contains no esp/esm and no asset (texture, meshes, interfact...) directory." For example, it says that with apachii skyhair and with unp fitness blender. Do I need to do something to fix that, or is that how it's supposed to be? Also, when I run the launcher and click data files, nothing shows up.
gvman3670 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 The vanilla launcher won't show anything. Mod Organizer doesn't put anything the /Skyrim/data/ folder so that launcher can;t read your installed mods. And THAT is one of MO's best features to be totally honest. It prevents your game from being borked. You will need to add SKSE to the Skyrim folder (not in /data/, but at the level where you find TESV.exe). Then you need to set SKSE as an executable inside of Mod Organizer. I've never used Fitness Blender. If I wanted muscles I just used Barbarian or Milkdrinker textures, depending on how toned I wanted the character to look. Apachii, though, DOES have an .esm. I am using 1.5full and 1.3 and there is a single Apachii .esm file in my load order. So I would probably remove those greyed out mods and reinstall them. Watch these vides here. They'll get you straightened out.
RitualClarity Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Good stuff. Wish I found that before I had struggled with MO.. lol.
grinch89 Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 Thanks again. I ended up having to just copy/paste the .esm files and everything seems to be working now! I appreciate all the help!
