Follower Problems

So I'm having this strange problem where none of my followers will equip chest armor. Helmets, boots etc. seem to work fine, but nobody want to get out of their default chest piece for some reason.

I used Faendal as my guinea pig. I tried giving him Leather Armor, Studded Armor, Stormcloak Armor, Elven Armor, Imperial Light Armor, and upgraded versions of all of these, but he's still wearing his default rags.

 

I honestly have no idea what could be causing this behavior, and I've never seen a problem like this before (beyond normal stuff related to armor quality and follower skills, so on).

Can anyone help me?

If you are using AFT, there AFT own dialogues for it.

What happens if you remove the rags using the console? Don't remove anything else or it may trigger him to reset his outfit.

As clp said there is options in AFT to tell them what to wear. They also have two inventories. One is theirs they can use one is a backpack they can't use. Sure you put the armor you want them to wear in the correct one?

Click on him in the console and type showinventory and look for it there, it should say worn next to it and have the code listed.

I have AFT no longer installed, but I can I remember that was a dialog / command: "Enable automatic change of clothes" or something like that.

Then you have access to Inventory / Armor from the NPC.
