So What The G.e.c.k?!

Hey Alexa, what kind of fiddling are you going to with the geck? Or you just want just general info. If you want to make custom companions, or some other things, I know pretty good specific guides.

Idk really.  I was thinking of making a dungeon or something.

I HONESTLY had a idea to make myself a home.  :D

The Bethsoft tutorial page shows you how to do exactly this.

Yeah, the way most of us learnt is to find a mod similar to what we want, then rename a copy of the mod to your mods name, make a backup of your Data folder, and then screw around with the copy till you break it, reinstall it again, wash rinse repeat, when you break everything use your data backup  :)

GECK help website link from GECK help tab is reasonably helpful and most of the functions are similar to Oblivion functions. NVSE is also helpful if you get into scripting, you will also need to get into FNVEdit and use it to check your mod regularly for conficts and accidental screw-ups. It's the best way to fix if you accidentally move walls, furniture etc in the Render window and want to restore them to their original position.

I have next to no graphical GECK knowledge myself, but others here have dabbled in that black art, Learning GECK requires a sacrifice of a portion of your sanity for it's boon :)

That tutorial is great however a bit involved unless you are desiring to create world spaces. Good and complete. I managed to do about 1/2 or so of it before I stopped. The best thing is to jump in and just find the small tutorial or guide that gives you just enough to get you in trouble. Get in trouble and fix it and move on to the next thing that will get you in trouble and fix it. and rinse and repeat. ..
