perrymwt Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I'm still having a lot of problems downloading files greater than about 10 meg in size from the Downloads section. As I described before, such a download will complete within a couple of seconds, and then the connection to the server is lost. Using a work-around given, I can usually download a file within five to ten tries, but I'm getting tired of that. I've noticed that other people are having the same problem in the various forums. Now I'm using Firefox and Win7. I don't believe it is a problem with my setup since I can download without problems anywhere else on the Web. I can download any attachment in a topic on this site. This problem began when the site added the fifteen second delay to downloads, so there would be a good place to start checking. Thanks for any help.
perrymwt Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Yes, like I said, any file over about 10 meg in size.
samarchepas Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I can download fine...BUT I can't get more than 20 KB/S (that's for any files...I normally get 800 KB/s easily)
Contessa Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I'm having the opposite issue, oddly enough. Large files download quickly whereas small files are extremely slow, most of the times failing halfway through. It's worse with anything less than 1 Megabyte. Head scratcher!
Djark Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I am having an issue as well, trying to download large files continually hangs on 1 second left, reguardless of browser. I've even waited a few days, trying every day or so and the problem was not a intermittant issue, but consistant.
nuckinfutzcat Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Can't download anything on android at all. Anyone know anything?
Rayblue Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 It's probably your ISP that has a bit of a problem lately, as well as some of the file servers.
aqqh Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Not rly. To me it started like 2 days ago - there was windows update then if i remember right... When trying to DL any file it goes to 99% as normal then it stops. On chrome after like 5 minutes i got DL failiure because of "network error" On firefox 29.0.1 it may DL file correctly - it ll just DL 99% in couple of seconds and that remaining 1% takes 1 hour or so. Oh, and after couple of years spent at plaing MMOs i do know how to check if my connection runs properly. It is.
Mashi Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Chances are it's a ISP throttling issue. If you're seeing weird things like "network error" or something else, you're either losing connection or it's being terminated by the host for some reason. Or the modem is dropping you. Do some basic tests to see, check dslreports.com run the linequality tests, speedtests, and so on and see if there's anything "weird."
aqqh Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Told you every single file i DL form this site goes to 99% like a charm and the last 1% takes 1 hour on firefox, or doesn't DL at all on chrome. Chrome propably has some timeout mechanics that automaticly fails DL when it got stuck for too long. When i download files form other sites. Or mods from extarnal links i dont have any issues like that.

I tried using a download manager so in case of failure I could continue my download rather than losing it, but those don't work with this download system.
Macbullterrier Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I am having similar issues. It is not my isp or modem issue or browser issue as other downloads work fine. The issue is with the download mechanic for the site. Its obvious that there are issues based on the many complaints.

The issue is with the download mechanic for the site. Its obvious that there are issues based on the many complaints. Not to be a complete ass, but that is a stupid leap in logic. A handful of complaints that turned out to be 99% user driven issues (anti-virus to ISP) don't constitute this site having an a broken download mechanic. The download mechanic works fine for the VAST majority of the users here. That more than implies the problem is somewhere on your side of the equation and not the sites. Sorry.
perrymwt Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 Downloads are now working for me for files greater than 10mb now. Thanks to the admins who solved the problem.
aqqh Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 In my case without a trace of doubt it was settings on antivirus software. Tho i got no clue why that software were causing problems only for files from this site - and only for some of them as i am able to DL majority of files from here without problems.
