Your favorite MOBA ?

So, today I finally downloaded, installed and played Smite ! I already have a lvl 30 account and another lvl 25 account on LOL and even if it has 27 million people playing it each day around the world because it is free and easy to play and understand how to improve skills, I think there will be a fight between MOBAs in the next 10 years, because even if the gameplay is not very different there are some major differences and I'd like to know why players prefer one or another, so I'm asking you fellow members which one of these 4 famous MOBAs you like the most and why ?

I don't play any MOBAs. Why? Becuase It's not my type/style of game. I have seen a few gameplay videos, and it looks really boring. Now, ofc I can't judge it just like that, but no spark ignited me to look further into it. I don't know if you can compare it to RTS, but I'm not a huge fan of those either. However, I do like those old Warhammer 40K games.

 

But yeah, no fan at all.

I want to say I enjoy League of Legends, but as someone who started right after the beta, I can't stand playing a game that is run by a company that has devloved as much as Riot.

 

So have to go with DotA 2, as it is the only other MOBA I've played (outside of one game of Heroes of Newerth).

It's 2D and simple to understand. The art style, gameplay, platforming, combat, and sense of humor are all excellent.

Well League of Legends for me. I don't want to start a war between Dota2 and LoL becouse both game are interesting and offers a different gamestyle but I had worse experience in Dota2 than in LoL. 

 

Mainly becouse of flaming at you. How can you learn to play if people flame/treaten/reports you, this is really a unfriendly community. So I've stopped playing on PvP and now I'm only playing vs AI occasionally becouse it offers more fun than playing vs people.

 

Also Dota2 is too hard at the beginning , LoL was more user-friendly and offers a better gameplay,more arcade. I'm glad Riot has started to removing RNG stats, becouse this is the most frustrating thing in Dota2. Its a one big RNG game with a point&click stuns that last 5 seconds. Crappy UI , movement delays , AA animations , 1 item can counter 75% of the champion pool ( yes saying champions instead of heroes in Dota2 forums makes people mad like hell ). Most characters are useless until 20 minute mark and mages fall off in the late game.

 

Riot isn't saint too , they sometimes comes with a ridiculous balance changes and sick champion designs that are always problematic. ( ie true damage , reset on kill skills , non mana champs ).

 

Overall Dota2 uses an ancient mechanic from Warcraft 3 , yes I have played lots of war3 and its custom maps. I have started to hate on Dota becouse it was overtaking every single game lobby, thus making other warcraft 3 maps dying silently.

If Warcraft's Dota wasn't that famous it would be a crappy game if Dota2 came out today.

 

I'm not that great moba player ( I'm just in gold ) , I would say average but I do enjoy playing LoL pvp more than Dota2's.

 

I've tested Smite too , was a really fun and fresh game but didn't hold me for long.

I don't play moba games. I'm not much into competitive multiplayer...I don't do PvP in MMOs either. But I tried the original DotA just out of curiosity...and was surprised by some of the characters..Lina Inverse originally from the Slayers anime/manga, Rikimaru from the Tenchu games and some others..

The Moba community is one of the worst I've ever seen, so no, I don't play Mobas.  If I wanted to get yelled at constantly for 30~40 minuets for doing anything, I'd go to a dominatrix.  At least then I'd have a chance of having an orgasm.

Thats not completly right, mobas are ment to be played with friends.

You will change your mind about mobas if you play it right, but i agree, it's almost unplayable with 4 randoms.

Played DotA 1 for years. Playing DotA 2 now.

 

Used to play Land of Chaos Online (LOCO), but that game was basically destroyed by it's own developers and is now gone.

Gave SMITE a try, but stopped when they removed half the items (I recall there being a sword that could allow you to strafe without movement speed reduction, for example). Haven't checked it since then, so they could've re-added them, but I lost interest.

Never tried HoN or LoL, because I like as much complexity in my top-down strategy games as possible, and DotA has more than either. I won't deny the notion that they could be fun themselves, but there's something to be said about denying an allied hero in the face of a five-man dive.

 

And yes, the DotA 2 community is horrible (partially due to Valve placing people who selected one language on the same team as people who selected another - as if that doesn't cause communication issues or anything) but really, you got a mute button, don't be a kid; Someone yells at you, mute him. Someone swears, mute him. Someone spam-pings or spams the chat wheel messages, report him. It's rather simple and very effective.

Just saying, HOTS probably shouldn't be on that list, only because it's in alpha and access to it is quite limited right now.

 

Favourite MOBA? In all honesty it's a toss up between SMITE and League, shame you can't choose two things..

 

But in all honesty, my vote goes to SMITE, just simply on the theme of the game and who the characters are,

I played Dota,LoL,LOCO,SMITE,WOT.

 

And must say Dota have terible people its painfuly play,game is not bad.

LOCO i liked it until publisher pissed me.

WOT is not MOBA but not bad,only require too many time to unlock somethink.Or atlest it was on begin.

Smite i dont play long,but will return to it soon after i got more time.Look like interesting game.Special dance on victory

My favourite is LOL it why i voted for it.Funy game,not so hard for learn,people are not so bad even on soo big comunity.Only problem is Riot logic here.

Dota 2 for me. i never tried Smite, might try that game some time. As for my "why Dota2 over LoL" decision, eh, just preference. i like Dota2 for what it has that LoL dont.

I prefer Simite the 3rd person perspective is far more suited, if you only controll one guy and gives a more direct controll. But I don't play often, because far to much people take these games far to serious and start insulting others.

Not F2P, it's on Steam for $9.99. There's an expansion (Starstorm) that's in early access stages. You can buy skins and the only characters locked to you are those that require the expansion.

There is no solo mode, the closest thing is a 1v1 against a bot, but there are also simple bot matches so there's only 5 people to deal with

There are A.I. enemies and you can play with A.I. friends so yes, in a way you can play solo. Meaning you can play this game without any living human being and still have fun and win or lose a game.

I don't play MOBA, not a fan of the genre. Tried a few games and didn't care for them. Especially DOTA 2, bleh.
