Raidwiki Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Hello once again LL I'm trying to learn Blender to start making my own armor mods, so if this is in the wrong section please don't be afraid to scream it at me Anyways on with the question. After some thorough research and many downloads of blender it seems I just can't get it to work with what I want to practice first which happens to be body conversions. Saw a flat chested armor on nexus made by larrytmc and it made me go "Huh... that looks nice, but wouldn't it look better with some bounce to its step?" I'm not looking for a hand out here just pointed in the right direction.
mem4ob4 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 When I am wanting to add some bounce to an armor that has none: I currently use blender 2.49b with Gerra6 blender scripts. With the armor loaded in blender, I import the same bodypart (upper or lower) from Gerra6 and Movomos setbody plugin that already have bounce added to them. Then use Gerra6 script to copy the boneweight over to my armor. Gerra6 has provided some good instructions on the details of doing this. Then I delete the mesh I used to copy from and carry on from there. Also- Converting armors, I have been using Gerra6 clothingconverter then taking it into blender to tweak things if needed. Mem
Raidwiki Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Alright after quite some time spent I still keep getting an error saying "this is not a blender compatible file" or something close to that line, was reading some general info on it and pretty much has me stumped. Only thing I can see it being is I need to take the .nif files and do something to them or I'm missing a critical component for blender to read these nif files correctly for conversion.
mem4ob4 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Using- 'import' instead of 'open' ? Gotta ask that one. What one of Larrys is it (mod number from nexus)? Mem
mem4ob4 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I was able to load up '1.nif'. It took a very very long time on my old machine (fixed a ham and cheese sandwich) but got no errors. If blender is not recognizing it, it may be your nif scripts. You might review all install instructions to make sure you have the right nifscripts, pyfii, etc. for your version of blender. Mem
Schmendrick Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 There are lots of armor editing guides for blender, here is one I've bookmarked and use frequently.
Raidwiki Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Okay finally got it loaded into blender (Yay small victory) And im trying to use the guide you linked Schmendrick, however I can't seem to find the add option for adding my lattice to the mesh I want to edit.
Schmendrick Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 You may want to look for some blender general usage tutorial first. It is a complex software and not very intuitive.
gregathit Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 You don't add the lattice to clothes, you add the clothes to the lattice. Blender is indeed a bit difficult to learn to use. I have only managed to figure out a few of its features. I dabbled in clothes but didn't have the time with the other projects I was (and still am) doing to spend the time to master that part of it. I'd suggest reading here: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/10396-clothing-bodytype-converter-v50-12242013/ The OP goes into great detail on how to use lattices and other blender tips. However, the above is the "old" tool and has been replaced by this: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/27557-new-clothing-body-style-converter-release-candidate-v072-3-30-2014/?p=690766 Cheers, Greg
kingkong Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 i do not understand your lattice thing ??? if i want to add bounce to a body or an armor i know about 3 ways - copy bone weight from one mesh to an other. you highlight the object you want do to make the change and than you add select the other object to copy from and in script you "copy bone weight" - you add bones and weight paint them (mesh rigging a little complex to explain) - you download gerra 6 tools for blender and you add bones via automatic script (follow the readme very easy and simple) http://www.loverslab.com/topic/11870-automatic-bb-weight-painter-13-cskyrim-fnv-fo3-oblivion/
Sir Artsy Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I'll make it easy. Ditch lattices and just use proportional edit (hit O in edit) . It was less hassle for me but i could get more done with adjustable edit zone than confusing wireframe.
kingkong Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 NeoDee the lattice are here to make it easy to convert multitude of meshes to win time. some meshes are more difficult to get due to templates differents. and anyway most convertions will need a little touch of propotionnal editing or different falloff of vertices adjustement to get rid of clippings and errors. and i understand when you say "confusing wireframe" : i am not a blender begginer but i still knock off my head when reading blender tutorials.
