Coen92 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 OK, so I decided to again reinstall my Skyrim, even when I didn't have so much problem with CTD (but they still were) but I had my game overloaded by scripts and stuff. My GPU and CPU was exhausted by my Skyrim game, so I decided to do reinstall. Now I need help. I want to start from beginning and keep my game as clean as possible. I need guide or advice how to safety install mods, step by step, to keep them clean becouse I don't want to have CTD anymore (or maybe just once per a day ONLY). There are some nice Guides on Nexus or here, or even on YouTube (made by Gopher) but I am asking you too, to have complete knowledge about this.Which program to use to install mods. I've heard that Nexus Mod Manager is not good, but I never used others programs to install mods. Is the Mod Organizer the best thing for that? Explain pros (+) and cons (-) of each program.I really need your help. Links for guides are welcome.
nutluck Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Watch Gophers Beginners Guide to Modding Skyrim. By the time you are done with the series if you have followed it step by step installing stuff you will be good to go on knowing how to mod your game. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DdhDG41roBVJfNCqvO5MmKP
gvman3670 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Read this thread and follow the instructions. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/26468-guide-want-a-ctd-free-and-blistering-fast-skyrim-game-here-you-go/ This is everything you need to know to give Skyrim some TLC before modding it to make it run nice and smooth with as few issues as possible. And I'd strongly suggest getting and using MO (leave manual installs and NMM to those not wise enough to use MO ) so you'll never need to do another reinstall....EVER!
gvman3670 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I guess I should've at least listed a couple pros and cons with NMM and MO. To put it quite simply there are no cons with Mod Organizer. Maybe that it has a slight learning curve at first. But that's the worst. It just does SOOOooo much and does it well. All while leaving your Skyrim installation pristine and brand new. You should never have to reinstall Skyrim again. And some of the cooler feature are the ability to have multiple profiles and getting to have total control over mod conflicts to get the results you want. Cons with NMM would be that it's basically broken, it puts stuff into the Skyrim/data/ folder, when you remove a mod it doesn't always replace what was over written and it constantly needs updated (which in and of itself can cause some issues). The only possible pro for NMM is how easy it is to use, but even Mod Organizer can download and install directly from Nexus just like NMM does.
Coen92 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Thank you very much for answers. If there is something more to add feel free to do it. More information is better in this cause, but anyway I will mark your post as solved, for other people who'd look help with that problem.
