Jeffrey Lane Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 All of a sudden, last night i began having CTDs. i've been going thru my mods, checking one off and seeing it it's the problem but have been having zero luck, aside from one thing.. the crashes seem to be centered around the area Avanchnzel i think, get near it and boom CTD, but if i walk away from the area it seems fine. which sucks ass since i have a armor mod that to fully unlock it's contents i have to complete the Unfathomable Depths quest inside it. My load order has been BOSS'd, batch patch is in place, nothing was changed, and have added no new mods or taken any out. My gamer has been 99% stable since i started it, but suddenly after stopping to eat last night this has begun. any thoughts? or does anyone know the command to use COC to put me just inside Avanchnzel? i tried entering that but had no luck. RitualClarity Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I am not as familiar with Skyrim as I am with Fallout however when I see this CTD issue based on location makes me think that you have a mod that has made changes to that location that is causing the crash. Sometimes it is a requirement that hasn't been mentioned in the mods OP (accident addition) or some changes at location that causes the game to freeze and crash. Sometimes the 'bashed" patch has patched something it shouldn't have and when the game enters that location it crashes. Could be the mods are fine but one of them should have been excluded from your bashed patch or disabled as it is referencing something that is currently missing where the game expects it to be. Check that as well Sorry I couldn't be of more help, however from your post it seems as if you have considerable skill and understanding of both the game and the mods and tools you are using. does anyone know the command to use COC to put me just inside Avanchnzel? i tried entering that but had no luck. Even if you had codes to enter the town it might just crash anyway if the above assumption is true. You are likely missing something or referencing something wrong hence the CTD
myuhinny Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 To find the code for something just bring up the console with the ~ button and type in help riverwood or help stables then scroll through the list with page up and down buttons till you find the one you need. If you are getting a CTD when getting close to a place it could be as said ritualclarity a mod is doing it maybe it is conflicting with a different mod. I have had it happen before with fallout skyrim and oblivion I recently had one on oblivion where I was getting a CTD when getting close to a certain town it turned out a mod I had that added enemies to the areas dungeons and caves was causing it because another mod was adding people to the same area that the CTD was coming from and turning off the offending mod made the CTD's cease. Might be the Populated ones that you have not sure though. Could also be a body mod I had follower mod at one time where I had no problem till I got in the same cell as they were and then I would get a CTD turned out the follower needed BBP/TBBP/UNPB skeleton can't remember which one but after adding the skeleton there was no longer a CTD. Another thing you could do is download TES5Edit by ElminsterAU http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/? Unzip it and run the .exe that is inside it and it will start to load up everything that you have activated in your load order if it hits a error in your load order it will stop and tell you why in the bottom right hand area read it fix close TES5Edit then repeat starting TES5Edit till it no longer hits any errors and is able to load everything up. Then try your game again. Boss is good but it is not 100% correct it will only move what it *knows* anything else just gets thrown where ever it wants to throw them.

Loaded other char, one with a different body mod (main uses UNP, alt uses CBBE) and went to that area with no crash. tried without the armor mod on, but still installed and it still crashed (try removing it and see next). edit: god damn it, removing ti solved the issue. maybe try it on again after the quest, see if it still happens. but now i have another issue, altho not entirely a bad one. I"M ON FIRE! killed some goblins and now she's like that.
gvman3670 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Yeah, whatever that mod changed in the dwarven ruin must be what caused the issue. I've had similar issues with other mods before.
Jeffrey Lane Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Ok, removed the mod and finished the quest, put mod back in and all seems fine now. no crashes in the area of Avanchnzel. tho, since i had previously been there before getting the quest and now being there after, i think it's the quest itself that has the issue, not the entire mod. ty for the help again.
