Pkatt Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm able to install mods, and use them, using mod manager, and fomm, and wrye. Also can use console commands. I'm not familiar (yet) with the other stuff, like gecko, creation kit, any of the stuff to make mods. What is happening is that about 25% of the NCR people I see, are not wearing anything. Their bodies are ok, everything is visible, they just don't have anything on. And its just NCR only. Now I figure its probably a mesh, or texture or something, that didn't get installed right, or got overwritten. The problem is, I don't really know how to figure out what they are supposed to be wearing. Is there a way to look at an NPC in game, and see what is in their inventory, and see if its always the same armor that seems to be missing/invisible? thanks
nyaalich Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 If you open the console and select an NPC, you can type "showinventory." IIRC, that should allow you to see invisible things as well.
zippy57 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 If it were a mesh issue their body would be invisible, and if it were a texture issue you would see shifting colors. It's likely either they're not equipping their armor for some reason or they're just spawning without any at all.
ChancellorKremlin Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I've had this problem happen before, usually as a result of having too many mods installed. Like, going to the Legion fort and having all the legionaries naked. This applied to bodies too, like a save a while after, were I'd slaugthered them all. All naked. Very strange. Never found a way to fix it other than disabling mods and loading an earlier save.
zippy57 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Ah, that too. If you have too many mods the game freaks out and fails at loading most assets. The exact number differs from system to system, but generally it seems that the better your processor, the less mods you can load. I have to limit the game to a single core to play properly.
Pkatt Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 interesting, and thanks for the insights! When I get a chance to get back in game, I will do the showinventory thing, just to see what they have and if it is consistent. But that does make sense, that if they had the armor equipped, and it had a problem, then I would be seeing some type of glitch, instead of the actual body underneath. I didn't think my cpu was a very good one, LOL, but maybe its a little better than I thought, by FONV standards. I have an AMD dual core, and I'm running around 100 mods, I think. More than a few, but a far cry from the 225+ I was running back when I managed to break my oblivion.
BruceWayne Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 The mod that distributes GRA weapons to NPCs used to break leveled lists back in the day. It did so, because the author added the weapons not only to weapons lls but also to the armor lls. So, if it's none of the above, you have that mod (or a mod doing the same mistake) installed and you see someone naked, chances are the ll spawned a weapon instead of a random armor item. You can check this by the NPCs ID, going into FNVEdit, checking their inventory, looking for leveled items in their inventory and trace back to the leveled list itself. Not having a merged patch for a mod that you were instructed to have one for can potentially cause this behaviour as well.
