BrMaggot Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hello Lovers! I came back to Skyrim after months of not touching it and when i try to run it with SKSE it crashes to desktop when it gets to the main menu. However, if i launch the game with the default .exe runs just fine and i can load my saves. Any clue of what could be causing this? Nothing changed since i last played it, and it was working perfectly.
Vancien Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Install the new version of SKSE, I am assuming you already updated Skyrim when you loaded up Steam. - Jump to 16:17 for how to uninstall SKSE first. http://skse.silverlock.org/
FlyingLemon Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Do you have the newest SKSE? By newest SKSE I mean do you have the alpha version 1.7.0 installed?

Vancien Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 You can verify the integrity of your game cache, although I do not think that is the issue. Right click Steam in your taskbar Choose Library Right click The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Select Properties Third Tab Local Files Verify Integrity of Game Cache A mod list and load order would be helpful to us to further assist. When you say "months" I don't know if that was 24 months or 2 months. Either way, mods get updated and so do mod utilities. If you haven't done so already, run BOSS and post your mod list/load order.

Allright, did it, still CTD. You can verify the integrity of your game cache, although I do not think that is the issue. It was like 6 months. Verified the integrity, was missing one file so i downloaded it again. Still CTD Here's my modlist and load order. On BOSS there's a few mods that recquires cleaning with tes5edit, but i don't know how to do it. But no fatal errors at all afaik, as i said before i can run the game if i don't use SKSE. UPDATE: I didn't see it before but when loading the game without SKSE there's two errors: HDT High Heel: Wrong DLL version or DLL not running CharacterMakingExtender ERROR: illigal game settings. conflict other mod? stop facegen system please check load order and raise a priority of charactermakingextender.esp Weird, i don't remember having those last time i played...
BrMaggot Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Allright i managed to run the game with SKSE. I think it was a plugin called nioverride.dll, which i have no clue from what it is. I still get the chractermakingextender.esp error, even after changing the load order.... Anyone?
...0... Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 nioverride.dll for this. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37481/? Make sure to activate the EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp and CharacterMakingExtender.esp in your mod launcher by checking its box.

Make sure to activate the EnhancedCharacterEdit.esp and CharacterMakingExtender.esp in your mod launcher by checking its box. They're both checked, the error just keeps happening. Never downloaded that mod, could the plugin be included in some armor mod?
Ailsa Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Have you got Race Menu? I think that uses nioverride too.
Vancien Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Many of your loaded mods could have been updated within the last six months. Are you running Nexus Mod Manager? Cleaning the listed files isn't all difficult, just time consuming. You can find all the information you will need and guides below. I recommend reading and watching the videos. And reference the page when needed while you do your cleaning. TES5Edit Guide On another note, I notice you have both .esp's Evasiadutch mentioned. However, I do not know their proper priority within your load order. You may try moving EnhancedCharacteredit.esp above CharacterMakingExtender.esp and see if the error kicks off. I also noticed you have CalienteVanillaArmorTweaks.esp (Calientes Vanilla Outfits for CBBE) but you don't have any CBBE curvy or slim bodies installed? Does that mod work in game?
Vancien Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 And I do think that nioverride is also used by RaceMenu which you do have. I have it as well and I do not have the other .esp files mentioned for whatever mods those correspond with.

That .esp is not activated. Well thanks everybody for the help, i'll try a few things and if it still doesn't work properly i'll just make a clean install ;_;
Someone92 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Crash at start-up (I guess you mean that by main menu) is usually a sign of a missing master. Use the mod checker of Wrye Bash or look at the "Plugins" tab of Mod Organizer if one file has an error flag.
