She said on the forums that if people keep making torrents, she will stop with making the game. She wants us to download from the official page, and I do not get it why are people having problems with that ( I also prefer the torrent but... )...

problems with getting them from torrents or using the official dl methods?  For me the official method is a slow method, 5+parts with downloading 1 at a time due to the site restrictions at 100kbps would take about 5 days.  Torrent 2hrs total, so yea, she should look into torrent file which is housed on one of those ad link sites for $$ of course.

 

Edit: new site is also slow, 1 part every 2hrs, 9 parts....

As for the downloading from share sites instead of torrent, is due to Auril gets money from share sites but not torrents. Means she can work more on the game and less worrying about bills.

I understand she gets money from those sites, it's just that those sites are so limited.  If I could download more then 1 file per 2hrs then I would be ok with that, even if I have to go through 2min of ads.   I have to ask, do ViP members have to download from this site or they have their own download site(faster/etc)?

No, we don't download through those sites. we have a site you can download all parts together in one go with no restrictions on speed.

The problem with that being that if she asks for money, technically she's breaking the terms of agreement for the UDK.  If you're making a profit from the game, you have to get a license for your game for distribution from Epic, which costs $99 in US currency, and give Epic 25% of the profit.  

And yes, those terms still apply if you live in Russia.

It does not force you to do anything. I have never paid anything for those downloads and I have no problems getting the game. I just need some patience and not expect the download to finish in ten minutes or such. So just please stop being ADHD and download it for free by using the slow mode. Or quit complaining. I didn't say for you to pay for going premium on any download site nor does anyone else. And the reason why it was changed was because her account got deleted. Which believe it or not happens a lot since the game is classed as pornographic. So there goes one part of your argument.

 

The only reason you know of VIP's having faster downloads is through me, And the reason for faster downloads for VIP users is to lessen the time for the amount of Beta's we have to download. Auril has only ever said you get access to the Beta forum and Gallery if your VIP nothing else.

 

And if you seriously think getting better "access" is a reason then your barking up the wrong tree. Beta forums sometimes you can be talking downloading the same episode 10 - 15 times over a month play testing and helping improve the game or finding bugs or crashes. Then it is released to everyone for the price of free.

 

Also if the game goes VIP do you really think in this day in age that a game can stay private even if only VIP's get it? -facepalm-

 

You are getting the game for free that is beta tested and continuous improved upon, and yet complain that you should be getting more stuff for free.

Let me explain my motivation ever more clearly for you then.  I don't pirate games, and I don't support smug people who blatantly try to circumvent a licensing agreement such as the one in the UDK by third party profiting.  Whether or not she's profiting from a third party source, she's still profiting.  On top of that, she's asking for "donations" which make you part of a VIP club, which is, in reality, direct profit.  If she wants my money, by whatever means, she'll get the $80 license, display the agreement on her page, and give the cut she's required to give as somebody who's profiting from the UDK.  The crap she's pulling only serves to reduce the chances of a new and improved version, or even worse, they'll take it down, revoke the freeware licensing, and perform legal action against people who use it from then on.  Is that clear enough?

http://extabit.com/faq.jsp#faq_1_2 has the pricing plans. You probably won't get anywhere near the amounts per 1000 downloads without getting premium sales. After reading it over, I would bet money they wouldn't pay more than $.25 (I consider this extremely generous) per 1000 downloads for 0 premium sales considering Extabit didn't make any money off of you. Business is business.

I can't find an application other than the uninstall application and somehow I don't think it starts the game...
