Good ol' Neck Gap issue. Closed Question.

I have a Seductress Faye replacer off LL, that has a persistent neck gap. Persistent in that it has not responded to:

  1.  console NPC weight commands
  2.  replacing the skin for body and head with BnP skin (to set uniformity)
  3.  generating new head(s) using CK [just ended up with Bethesda vanilla horse head anyway]
  4.  looking at the NIF sternly and telling it to behave - but I'm a NIF dufus anyway.
  5.  Stripping the armour off and checking the nude version
  6.   Yelling at the screen

It's game version 1170 on PC, 3BA and XPMSSE. THe Revamped Fayre has been Bodyslidded etc etc.

I'm out of ideas. Anyone got one?

Load the body and head mesh by importing them into a new project in Outfit Studio. If the gap is still there, the meshes are just plain-n-simply incompatible.

Edit: But make sure the body is a _0 body, not the BodySlide project for the body. Just fell in this trap myself. So, new project (or just open Outfit Studio) then import the NIFs manually.

In outfit studio you got a neck gap slider (3ba).

Move the direction gap closes. Save as new preset, e.g. faye.

Thank you both. I'd seen the Neck Gap slider mentioned but the mentioner mentioned Bodyslide, not Outfit Studio!

I'll go and do that.

Hmmmm. I have a new Faye Fixed preset in which the neck joint is pretty much invisible in Outfit Studio. And I built the body to it for the game.

Yet the gap persists in the game - despite trying the usual weight alterations.

Have I missed something?

Yes - I've probably mucked the process up.

Might be because it's baked into your save?. Try disable/enable routine?.  Looking through the replacer looks like there's previous complaints about her neck gap as well.

Upload the 0 weight body that this follower uses, as well as the facegen mesh you want to use and I'll fix the neck gap for you.

Well, I have had enough. In Outfit Studio there's no gap between body and head. In game there's a gap.

Mind the gap.

Thank you everyone for your assistance. I'll have to live with a gap. I'll assume Fayre was decapitated by a previous victim who took a disllike to her.

Oops - that just crossed with your post.  Is it worth your time?

Well, Traison, if you feel like you have the time?  But if you don't then that's not a problem. Thank you for offering.

I'll be back with the files.

BTW, these are both from the Revamped mod.

Here's the original

Yeah this head was not made for either of the bodies provided. Gonna take a while to fix, as the neck has a different vertex count than the neck hole.

No wonder we were having so many issues.

Perhaps it would be easier to leave it? I don't want you to waste your time on a badly made mod.

Test this.

Probably not badly made. I think it's more likely you missed a dependency or it wasn't mentioned. This was made for a different body I think. It's badly made if this was converted (for instance) from Fallout 4.

Thank you. That's kind of you! And -    Aaeeeiiii!

OH - WAIT - my fault.  Lol.  But the pic is worth it. I'm still chuckling over it....

Er.... no. This IS what came out.  First time around I'd forgotten to rename the D62.  But once I sorted the file I'm afraid the face remains the same.

I have done the usual console weight changing.

You may be chuckling but I'll have to sleep with the light on tonight. 😨😰😱

Hm looking at the mesh I exported from Blender it looks visually indentical to the original. I didn't change or otherwise mess with the vertex order. I see the root node changed name though, could try changing that back to "Scene Root".

The neck seam is fixed so I think the cause has been found. I also see that the outfit would need fixing to fit the new neck size. That can be easily done in Outfit Studio I bet.

Since I don't really have the time to set this up to test it in my own game, my suggestion would be that you go through these 2 facegen meshes and compare each node. Moves values over from the one with the neck seam to the one I made. Especially the things that might have anything to do with face morphs not working would be of interest; I kinda see the Bethesda potato face in that latest screenshot. Alternatively you could see if NifSkope allows you to copy vertex data (i.e. vertex positions) and if so, copy them from mine to the one with the seam.

Thank you.

OK, I'll do that. And I appreciate your time looking at it and trying a few things.

Meanwhile, let's leave the 'project' at this point and I'll let you know how I get on.

I tried doing that and clearly messed up.  Even with your kind help and file, I've still got the gap.

I'd be truly grateful to learn how to do this so I don't have to bother people.

  • What file do I load into Outfit Studio?  THe basic 0/1 body files, or the Bodyslide nif?
  • On making the adjustment - I sem to go wrong in saving the files because the slider snaps back to 0.
  • Preset - am I replacing the XML, or the bodyslide NIF?

Sorry - I'm truly thick when it comes to this!

Load the 3ba as new project. Skip the part armor, clothing

Slider gap to the right. Set as default (scroll bar top). Save project as <your path your name>.

Use this in BS instead 3BA.

This is out of my mind, so doublecheck the things.

Almost there.  I had been working too far down in the Faye mod's files which is why I was getting confused.

Just one thing - the Set as Default.  Is that under the Slider>Set Base Shape?

On Save Project As - do I need to bother with the Bodyslide panel at top, or is it all in the Project panel lower down?  I would assume only the latter.

Sorry to be an idiot...

Yes base shape.

Nif should remain the same. Female_0.nif   _1.nif or you must rename it later. In my setup a single build appears in overwrite, so it's easy to copy.

The name of the "outfit" MUST not be 3ba cbbe or whatever. Otherwise you replace the default 3ba.

Like 3BAFaye or so.

You need to include this new out into bodyslide like clothes or it will not show up.

OK. Thank you for your help! I'll go off and sort this out.  I won't trouble you any more - I ought to be able to take it from here.

Thanks!
