Balmung889 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Which version of Skyrim is best to play these days? What's the current situation regarding normal/adult mods for AE? Is it worth playing AE? Or is it better to play SE? If so, which version is best to downgrade to? 1.5.97 or 1.6.640? Is there anything else I should know? Any advice?
Count Chocula Posted January 5 Posted January 5 The latest and the greatest, without buying the non-free AE extras. I would not (and have not) downgraded. I'm sure others will come in here with completely different opinions. I found downgrading Fallout 4 to be kind of pain in the butt. Not the process of downgrading, but stuff I have to double-check when adding mods. Not rocket surgery, as they say, but still something I'd rather not have to do. With Skyrim at the latest version, all I have to check is whether a mod is compatible with the latest version. I have yet to find a mod I want to install that isn't. Although I don't have a very big list of installed mods. But the advice is this: if you know of a specific mod that absolutely must have and it's compatible with only version XYZ, then your decision is made for you.
Lyreal Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) What Count Chocula write. The most recent version is the most stable and supported version, while the most mods, older one, running fine with it, which you can not say vise versa. If there is no specific reason never use older versions. But also disable Steam's Autoupdate for Skyrim should they come with an update to prevent breaking mods you may use. jfraser Posted January 5 Posted January 5 i agree. there is no longer any reason to consider any of the older versions - all the most important mods have caught up and 99% of the new ones are built for AE

Hättest du doch gleich fragen können, welcher Mod-Manager der beste ist! I just say "Jehovah - Jehovah"
Balmung889 Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Ah, quindi la situazione tra AE e SSE è diversa, migliore, per quanto riguarda la compatibilità delle mod (aggiornamenti). Pensavo fosse come Skyrim (2011) e SSE. In effetti, mi è sembrato strano non trovare mod per AE su Nexus, ma solo per SSE e Skyrim (2011). 1 hour ago, Caveman 74 said: Technically 1.5.97 was the last update for SE 1.6.640 is AE And while I am here this topic is so overdone on this site.... or are you trying to start a war... just as well have asked which Mod Manager is the best while your at it! I'm not very good at English. I communicate through translations. I struggle to keep up with certain news. The last time I played Skyrim was right when AE came out. Not knowing how the new version would relate to mods, I downgraded and played SSE. After that, I stopped following the game and mods, and I didn't know what the current situation was.

As for the argument about which mod manager is best, for some people that's answered for them. If someone wants to use Nexusmods collections, what choice is there other than Vortex? I had an argument with Nexus over AE vs SE when it first rolled out about why they were just dumping all the AE mod's in the SE site, They said it was SE just upgraded. I said LE was upgraded to SE, why did they get a site of there own? because LE is 32 bit and SE is 64 bit, anyway they in their overpowered positions chose to muddy the waters for SE 1.5.97 players such as myself with the mix of AE mods in SE, try it... game won't function, get rid of it. I too downgraded to SE after a forced update.
Balmung889 Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Great, off to a good start! The current version of Skyrim is 1.6.1170, and USSEP is still at version 1.6.1130. Do you think it still works, or should I downgrade to 1.6.1130 while still using the Anniversary Edition? 13 hours ago, Caveman 74 said: And while I am here this topic is so overdone on this site.... or are you trying to start a war... just as well have asked which Mod Manager is the best while your at it! Actually, I've always used Vortex. Yes, I always hear that Mod Organizer is better. As I said before, I'm not very good at English, and having first become familiar with NMM, which then became Vortex, I stuck with that for years. This time I'm trying to use and learn Mod Organizer.
43deadwood Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I'm currently using version 1.6.1170 and Mod Organizer without any problems (other than issues that probably trace back to me using too many mods and not organising them properly)

Actually my comment, which you are quoting & responding to is a smartass comment by myself and is why I apologized since you are a non English speaking person, please do not feed the sharks who love the debates of Mod Managers, Skyrim versions, or the other ones of which I will not name. Had I known you were not a native English speaker I might have worded my post a bit differently. Have a good day.

No downgrade necessary - but be sure to install "bees". https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106441 to learn MO2 1
Just Don't Posted January 7 Posted January 7 8 hours ago, Miauzi said: No downgrade necessary - but be sure to install "bees". But BEES is only needed if you downgrade. Or if you haven't updated your game since 1.6.1130 (aka dec 2023).
