Got custom animations working! (Anyone still interested?)

I'm excited for this even though I don't own the game. I can't see there being much variety of adult mods moving forward if it requires an actual programmer just to get past the nudity barrier. Going to be very slow-moving without access for other modders to share the load or create other useful frameworks. 

 

I think at this rate it might be 10 years before we see anything in the realm of full conversions/overhauls. That's if it happens at all.

What nudity barrier? As expected, while the functionality of them has varied, there's been nude mods that provide full genitalia and everything. As expected, it was one of the first few things tried. That said, the game being in early access, and core features being reworked, tweaked, etc, things naturally break and get updated again, so on and so forth.

Isn't the hype of this thread centered around the fact that someone found a way to create nude models that function mechanically and actually look decent though? 

 

This is so far the only one (among maybe two in total) that I've seen that does the modern aesthetic of Inzoi justice. That to me seemed like a breakthrough of sorts, Just not very encouraging that the only decent offering so far necessitated efforts of a programmer. At least I don't see this game ever reaching anything close to the bandwidth of mods available for other games. 

 

Hope I am wrong about that, but it doesn't look all that great a year into early-access. I am being a bit impatient here, as to me I wouldn't actually bother with this game unless that potential is there and realized to some extent. From a layman perspective it feels as if we have to fight the engine to get anywhere. From what I've read the devs may also be defiant to this type of content which may compound the issue further.

I just want to express my interest in seeing this framework made. Can't go wrong with more detailed adult interactions for this game!

 

I think the game has great potential, and the work that the devs have made over the last few months do look very promising. I only hope they further enhance the interactivity of the world to make it feel more alive. And perhaps some more fundamental options for the character creation (like more face and body sliders and height options), but now I'm getting off topic!

 

Yes, I am interested in a custom animation framework for InZoi!

You may be a bit confused about what mod we're talking about, sorry if my post was confusing! >.< I haven't made or worked on any nude mods for inZoi, that work was already done long before I entered the scene. In-fact, most of the initial difficult work was already figured out and there's a lot mods 'could' do, but just no one has really done it from what I've seen. This thread was me being a bit too hype about getting custom animations working with-in inZoi, and proposing an animation and 'naughty' framework for inZoi. If you check my work, the framework will be based on my work for Sugar Cake and Baking For Mara, both animation framework style mods which use a very similar animation player and system.

 

Unreal Engine modding is actually quite mature and there are a ton of tools, I'm even slowly learning more about Unreal Source, UE4SS, and C++ in hopes I can help expand the tools available (that's technically part of my proposal here). As someone that's been pretty deep into Unreal modding for the last 2 years though, I do know people generally struggle getting over the initial learning curve. I've been communicating with more people involved in active Unreal modding and hopefully we can help make things easier with better documentation, more stream-lined tools, and, of course, more welcoming community access for better diversity in the space. =^-^=

Appreciate the clarification. I am a bit out of the loop having never played the game. Come back once in a while to check for any meaningful developments. I just got the impression that such modifications are by design going against grain of what the game can support. At least I thought I had read somewhere that there might be strict limitations or deliberate barriers in place to resist adult content. 

 

I'm probably letting my impatience get the better of me. Great work you are doing and good to hear that such frameworks are in development. Also apologies for any misinterpretation on my part.

Is it possible for their modified Unreal Engine 5 setup to change the physics effects? I mean something similar to VaM, with very advanced physics simulation and lots of bone points for detailed movement.

I think making it in a similar style to SexLab would be a good choice. Also, thank you for everything you've done, and I wish you all the best in development.

By the way, I pre-ordered inZoi last year, but only played it for about ten hours after release before stopping. This was because I was simultaneously playing The Sims 4, which has almost all the DLC and the WW mod. I think everyone understands the difference between the two.

Anyway, I hope inZoi will gradually become a better game (given the community we're in, I think it's best if it's more for adults).

Small update!

I released a usable Proof of Concept mod (a simplified version of the one shown in the first post) that people can try out and help test with. I also released the UI implementation so SCML_UI which also has the base SCML included with all the C++ stuffs. But-of-course, I did get stuck on some C++ problems again that burned a lot of time. I'm currently on the final stretch of converting to SCML, I'm legit just stepping through BFM's source code and replacing it with SCML's implementation, then copying the results into inZOI, however it's still not usable because of how I went about it. So, sadly, I didn't actually get a proper build of NaughtyZoi out by today, sorry everyone! >.< (I'm hesitant to say 'it won't be much longer' because I am very good at missing deadlines I set for myself at this point lol)

Brother you're doing what no one else has the cojones to do. If you can deliver, it'll really bring more interest in Inzoi just like Animated Woohoo/Wicked Whims did for The Sims 4 when Turbodriver popped out of the ground like a dwarf in LOTR.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, we're running some polls regarding NaughtyZoi over in our Discord. Each poll is set to last a week and I'll be posted a few here and there to get opinions and feature priorities. I'm going to try my best to get the initial version out this week, but I don't know if I'll get interrupted or not. If anyone has Oblivion Remastered, and wants to help test the SCML conversion, I'll have a test version posted later today for Baking For Mara.

I'll also forward my 'Controversial' content stance I posted in Discord. Given this is on Lover's Lab, this probably goes without saying given the kind of content hosted here, but still important to make clear as I have with all my other works. =^-^=

This is super exciting! There's definitely interest otherwise those scams wouldn't have gotten thousand of bucks for just a promise.

Funny enough, this really is the best indicator that there's interest. I can't believe how much money those scams managed to make.

It's sad to think that in the future, there will still be people who get scammed regarding The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5.

Always sucks to be reminded of this. >.< I hope people were able to get some of their money back and I feel really bad for those scammed, that kind of money could have done a lot would it have actually gone toward a good faith developer too... X.x (Hecks, if I had made 6k or whatever it was, that would have been a good few months of full time development >.< I may be slow, but at least people would have something at the end, rather than the money vanishing into the void X.x) My cope-ing head cannon is that the scammers inflated their own donation/subscription numbers to try and make people fall for it easier, because "oh, look how many people trust this!" would be a powerful tool for them. >.>

Hey Spirit_shard I was thinking...

 

There might be people happy with just the animations, but how about integrating them with the game mechanics? I mean relationships and the chance of procreation. Something more like wicked whims. Will that be possible? I've read that the game files are tightly locked.

That's been the plan from the start =^-^= (I've lightly talked about it in other responses)

Whether it's possible or not, don't know. It's important to keep in mind that research into the game's systems and how to break in hasn't really started yet. We can open and look at the game's files with some simple configuration stuffs, we can check and modify memory/values/ect with UE4SS, and we have been able to extract the headers without any notice-able issues with them. So, generally, things should be possible, it's just a matter of research and understanding.

But again, important to stress, I don't know how to do pretty much any "Gameplay" integrations yet. Getting animations working and usable is just the first step given what I already have built, fancy stuff comes laters. ^-^

As for progress with stuffs, as usual, software developments are taking longer than predicted. >.> At the time of writing, I currently have the last bit of the Animation Player, and then just general type checking and filling in missing functions till BFM is fully ported over to SCML. Given my failure to really release things when I thought I would be able to, I'm not giving any timeline other that 'soon' for when things will be ready to test. I had planned to do the SCML port in pieces, but it proved to be causing a lot of issues, hence why there hasn't been any test builds posted as they simply were not functioning. (for the technical minded, I had to change a VERY large portion of types and objects to function as I wanted them to, this means if I did things 'in pieces' I'd have to go through the whole mod and change types any time I changed something, only to later go back over that code again anyways... so I've just been doing it in one large pass.)

EDIT : The initial release of NaughtyZOI is now posted over on our Discord - The Broken Chatbox! It's very VERY early and doesn't integrate into gameplay yet, but it exists!~ =^-^=
