To goon or not to goon

Considering that I have no idea what this means and my only contact with this word was through some ancient 1930s Popeye cartoon, where he went to Goon Island looking for his father, I'd say - no.

A Gooner is someone who masturbates frequently, or looks at porn frequently; it's Zoomer language for a pervert, basically.

I wouldn't mention that if there are any Arsenal supported nearby 🙂

I envy your innocence.

I assume this is something that has to do with United States culture. I live in what an average American calls "the rest of the world". Provided said American is even aware there is a whole world outside of US borders. I probably do not know nor care about great many other things they do. Like having to pay for education. Or medical bills.

I'm from the rest of the world as well, but that hasn't spared me.

It's more a kids these days type of thing. They make up new words to explain old concepts, and then think it's hilarious to talk about it all the time. Well, at least until their attention span runs out, which is getting shorter.

A simple solution for that fabled "short attention span" is a loving mother with a heavy hand and a slipper in it.

I have no idea what that means either.

A 'Zoomer' is another term for 'Gen Z'. They are 'Kids' to us old fogies, but still in their early to late 20s (I think).

Do you pay taxes? If the answer is yes, then you also pay for education and medical bills, only you are helping to pay for the education and medical bills of other people as well as your own.

Nothing a government gives for free is really free. At least in a system like that, the expense is presumably more manageable, though. Or it might feel that way.

In most cases, I agree with this. Apparently there is a link between ADD like symptoms and excessive use of cellular devices, specifically scrolling through short form videos on apps like TickTok and what have you, that trains the brain into having a shorter attention span, and of course, since kids, especially young boys, tend to be full of energy, they can't sit still in class or pay attention, and they get diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, even though their brains are perfectly normal, unlike people who were born with ADD or ADHD (like myself), for people like that, there is a whole other list of things that comes along with ADHD or ADD, anxiety, stronger emotions, stronger sex drive, heightened senses, a brain that physically matures slower than normal, reduced testosterone production, a dopamine deficiency (the main cause of ADHD)... All kinds of things.

Even for people with ADD/ADHD though, having a good upbringing with responsibilities around the house, discipline, and those sorts of things can be a good thing though. I'm not suggesting that ADHD or whatever should be an excuse for an easier life at a young age... Which is what I got (I lived a spoiled life as a kid, and I regret it). I'm saying that, basically, yes, to some degree a "loving mother with a slipper in her hand" can be a good thing for the development of all kids... and it's even better if they have their biological father in their life, as well.

In theory that is true.

But in practice, it's a whole other ballpark.

One may pay taxes, but that one also has no control over where, or how much of their tax money goes to each individual thing.

For example:

The US school system is rapidly declining in quality; But taxes are higher than ever for the 'little people', while the wealthy "elites" pay next to nothing.

In truth: We are witnessing the fall of the Human race. Birth rates a down to an almost 'unsustainable population level'; And people are starting to refuse to have kids because of rising costs, general 'mistreatment', and other reasons. The schools in the US have even started to close certain locations because of there not being enough kids to populate a classroom.

Sorry to go all 'Black pill' (depressing truth/harsh reality) on y'all there; But "'hell' is just a word, reality is much, much worse", as Dr. Weir said in the movie 'Event Horizon'.

I do what I can. But speaking out on these kinds of subjects only goes so far.

Can't force people to listen. Can't even force people to believe it, when the facts are right there in their face.

Too many people would rather stay 'blissfully ignorant and unaware', than face the harsh reality of a crumbling society.

And far, far too many people are vastly too 'self interested'; If something doesn't directly effect them right now, they don't give a shit about it. Even if it could effect their future in the long run.

Oh yeah, there was also this movie "The Goonies" sometime in the 1980's, which was so popular, kids were acting it out when playing outside, even though nobody had any idea what the hell they were saying in it. However I'm not certain now if we even had an original in circulation, or some second hand Italian or German dub. What I am certain about, no one was pronouncing it right. Double "o" being a "u" sound was an alien concept.

When you're spending $15,000-32,000 per child and graduate kids that are functionally illiterate, you are wasting money.  Listening to idiots about the failed marxist class bs isn't going to help, especially when those "little people" have the same opportunity to hire a team of high priced tax lawyers to navigate the byzantine tax codes and pay the same tax as the "elites" rather than pissing money away by doing their own taxes.

Removing the bureaucracy that props up this failed system is a good start, unfortunately without removing the union that props up the useless turds that sign off on graduating kids that can't read, there won't be a significant improvement (even the UAW allows automakers to fire screwups).  Unfortunately, the only way teachers can be immediately fired is when they sexually abuse their students.

Leave your echo chamber, go outside, roll around in the grass.  The human race survived when Chicago had a mile deep snowpack in July 10,000 years ago; it can survive fat, ugly women not having kids now.

Get back to gooning.

Tell me you're an American without telling me you're an American.

I advise you to get a passport, travel outside of North American continent and see the world. Maybe then you'll understand how funny you are.

If only that where possible. I exist below the poverty line. Barely able to afford to feed myself more than 2 or 3 times a week. The USA may be the 'wealthiest country in the world'; But for those of us that 'fell through the cracks', it's almost as harsh as existing as those 'starving children in Africa'.

Yet you somehow can still afford to have an Internet connection, play games and waste time complaining online to a bunch of strangers.

You either need to revisit your priorities or I call bullshit on that sob story.

Well, you can believe me or not. It makes no difference to me, and it doesn't change anything. I know my situation, and you don't even know me.
