I'm living paycheck to paycheck myself in this shithole country.  Everything went downhill after the COVID era and I don't see it getting better anytime soon, unless a certain orange man gets booted out of office.

I'd more argue that everything went downhill after 9/11/2001. Since then it's been war, after war, unconstitutional law, after unconstitutional law. Anything is abundance is going to be bad for you. It's important to try and do something that will increase your skills as well. Gooning in itself doesn't improve skill, it only grants you more knowledge of goon material. If most of what you have learned in a week's time is about goon material, you may be gooning more than what is healthy for you.
