jfraser Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 (edited) View File Across the Estuary What's new in version 120925: Fixed missing facegens, added voice acting (so professional!), added another crossing at the hunter's camp below the Guardian Stones to near the exit of Bleak Falls (and back). Okay, here's what happened - I had just accepted a very time-sensitive job for the Imperial Legion; I had to get to Korvanjund as quickly as possible to get some old crown before the Stormcloaks got there. The problem was, I had to trek miles (or kilometers, if you prefer) the wrong direction, west to Dragon Bridge then south, then finally east. It took so long, the Stormcloaks were already there by the time I arrived. It was very annoying and made me think - why hasn't someone developed a ferry system to cross the estuary? Now, to be fair, I am aware others have done just that, at least to some degree - there are mods that add ferries that cross the Karth before it widens to the estuary. They are either very slow (and would not allow my followers to join me, so they had to swim after the boat (in full armor! Kaiden still refuses to talk to me!)) or very janky, and do not have a way to cross to the east shore. There is another mod that gives you a "row row row your boat" option in many places, including across the estuary, but it also adds a bunch of things I do not want in my current attempted playthrough. So I just made a quick mod to do what I want - there are three NPCs who decided to start a ferry business for the low low price of 5 gold per trip. Between the three, they made a nice triangle around the estuary so you can get from one bank to the other quickly and easily. Followers included. One is right next to the abandoned cabin (presumably the poor guy has no idea what goes on in there), the second is on the small cove on the way to the Solitude lighthouse, and the third is on the shore a little north of High Gate Ruins and Windstad Manor (see map in pictures section). Very simple and quick! Hope you enjoy. If you do not enjoy, then enjoy your nice swims. DonQuiWho Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 This sounds fun But, for those of us with rather 'full' load orders, is it an esp or esl file? DQW 1

manafalls Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Here's an eslified version. If you're lucky, it's just a matter of flagging it in xedit, but in this case: 1)compact the formids and save 2)flag as esl and save 3)regenerate the sequence file 4)rename the meshes and textures with the new formids (npcs make things more complicated) for the 3 npcs I popped it into my game to test it out, and the esl works fine, no blackface bug, but as far as the mod goes, I'll note that after crossing the estuary all the sub dialogue options remain with the new ferryman, not just the top level. You may want to tidy that up (or not, your mod). Either way, thanks for sharing. Across the Estuary.7z 3

I thought I knew where it came from but guess not. Thanks for the ESL, tutorial, and for letting me know

jfraser Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 I cannot, for the life of me, find where the superfluous dialogue for the guy on the east bank is coming from. I may have to just recreate the entire damn mod.
jfraser Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 Ah ha! Figured it out. New error-free version coming later today. 1

devasape Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 I like how you said, current "attempted" play-through." I haven't actually completed any of the main quests in at least 7 years. It's always, "found a bug I need to fix" or "hey a new mod I want to try, guess I have to start a new game." 1

I have never finished the actual storyline in all these years. 1
