Let me rephrase it. There is a way to edit the GBC Shantae game because the sprite tile editors work on that game. Of the four sprite editors that I tried with the GBA Shantae game none of them picked up any graphics, only RGB static. I read on a few threads that if the tile editors don't find any tiles, it's because the game was encrypted with in-house encryption software used to package the game for distribution. Some modders develop specific tile editors to work with specific games in order to do graphics hacks, which is what we would need to mod this particular GBA game, unless someone finds a tile editor that does pick up this game's graphics.

The sprite may not look good when scaled up alone but when playing the game, it'll look natural when you can see the pixelated world around her.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, the Deluxe DLC provides skimpy costumes that would make for a good base to start on.

It's also been deduced that the Unity version is only using the engine as an emulation layer so you'll still have to hack the ROM to have nude sprites.

Though we could still edit the high-res art from the Unity version to be nudified.

Yeah but I suppose the GBA rom dont have a complexe system of sprite since its not as powerful as the last episode

well someone named thekitboi on steam made some spanky joe animations, so whenever the game gets cracked and sprite mods are able to be done, we will have an easy head start with the outfits at the very least.

I even added a second one a little later that goes off-refence just so it looks better (it's a between frame but still)

I decided to use RuntimeUnityEditor on a whim to see what I could find. I'm not sure if this helps, all I can tell is that game assets - baring HD portraits, HD HUD, HD UI, and HD menus - aren't exactly part of the game. I think it's being emulated through the GameScreen. If anyone has any idea on what I should check, I'll be happy to help.

Wait so you need to edit the sprite of the GBA rom for pc version, the hd UI is on another layer 

If I correctly understand, isn't it ?

so, then are like, all of the alt outfit sprites in the rom too? those should be on another layer, right? or is it kind of a special rom?

thinking about it, if the rom/gba version was all the backers got, i can't imagine they're too pleased that there's more content in the non GBA versions they didn't get.

I've been editing the rom, but got distracted by other stuff. I just prefer working with polygons over pixels. But if you guys really want it, I'll put more focus on it.

I'm afraid I'm only an artist and editor, and know practically nothing about modding games that aren't that open-source.
