am i missing something or are the sprites supposed to be like this? cause no matter how much i change the pattern or add/subtract bytes, i can't seem to line them up...

(this is for testing if the nude sprites can even be patched into the game)

Yes, it is supposed to look like that. Crazy, huh.

Just think about it, chances are this is the easier way.

ah i see, i'm not sure how tough it'll be to implement @BadAnG3LB0Y's sprites like this but i could give it a shot.

Rotty and Sky may be a good start so that Shantae doesn't feel overwhelming... luckily i'm pretty sure the main girls are the only sprite-heavy ones since the others from what i've seen are just idle animations

 

huh, i never actually considered checking rule34 til now but there are some edits that i could use for testing so that's neat

 

like i said, i feel those nipples ain't that great so wait a bit while i get those fixed

and i also feel it removed way too much of their costumes

heres an example of sky where everything else got added back in

and the image is also the correct size compared to the base

Keep in mind, there's always a chance your preferences are not shared by most. The nipples may be a bit big, but they look fine for cartoon characters, in my opinion. They are well-drawn and well-shaded, so anything after that is just opinion.

You can set a custom pattern to 4.8h + adjust the bytes and get almost cohesive sprites to work with, but you may still need to make adjustments in order to make sense of the sprites as you go on down the line. This is just romhacking unfortunately.

been trying to add back the skirt of Lava leader but theres just the two bits near the gold dots i can't seem to remove

Heya! I was just browsing looking for models of Shantae (no luck for Half Genie, huh? ><) and i just happened to find this thread and saw your post. I messed around with photoshop a bit to see if i could get something done. The "shadow" of the gold orb on her right side is not quite exactly the same, but... i hope this helps? (i cleaned a bit the outline of the breasts, since they still have a bit of red from the top)

I also made a small variant that keeps the lower part of the top, still exposing the breasts, just in case you like it :3

Got it, so you just like the nipples smaller, and with holes. Doesn't make them better, just means that's what you prefer.
