Skyrim SE issues on my setup that just started.

Sorry it's gone to shit for you. I understand.  don't get me wrong. It's just that instead of plugging the dyke,  you effectively tore it down and started over.  When  I say I don't know where to start, I mean that I don't have the first idea how to repair the torn down dyke, figurative as it may be. I'm just a player. so all I can spout is player-level common sense.

Hope you get things back working properly soon.

PS> this link might help you to avoid obsolete mods, just in case it plays any role in your current issues

Okay, thanks.

In any case, it doesn't seem germane to this particular "Is Vortex busted?" thread.

Because if I can find the posts I will get the info the mod author gave me about LOOT, the problem and the versions etc.

Ah...  Doh! understood...

I took the liberty of looking for something that might be useful to you for that stuff...

I used the search term "internet search operators", and this was one of the links I found. Again... *might* be useful...ymmv

Did I get that right... faulty update for Vortex?

Aha - that's probably why my Skyrim installation crashed a few days ago... and I also let LOOT sort the plugins automatically.

Well - basically my fault... it's time to learn more about mod managers (especially things like "automatic update" or "repair")

:relieved:

There was a faulty Vortex update a week or two ago (1.14.7). It afaik has since been resolved with the release of Vortex 1.14.8. (I think the fix was released a couple days after 1.14.7 had been released)

And fwiw, installing it by itself shouldn't screw up the game, only the act of deploying a game using the broken version...

And since I had been working on my installation during this time *sigh* ... I wiped everything out of frustration and started again from the beginning (with MO2 - which will take much longer).

that last bit doesn't translate well to German (German right?)  Rephrasing it a a little... should read in German as

"nur wenn Sie bei Verwendung der fehlerhaften Vortex-Version bereitstellen"

In any case, well that sucks. I feel your pain.

I still don't know what the mod was but the problem itself was down to XEdit. I had v4.1.5 and upgrading to v4.1.5f as per the instruction of the mystery mod author solved the problem.
