Follower

What is needed to make an NPC follower be a follower?

Sometimes I get a follower who has PotentialFollowerFaction Rank 0 and CurrentFollowerFaction Rank -1 but there is no dialogue option when I speak to them. Is there another setting somewhere?

 

I'm using EFF and I'm talking about regular bog-standard followers.

 

Edit. Well I just enlisted the follower as a TDFAPP prostitute and as if by magic the normal 'follow me ...' follower option appeared. Now I don't get the 'part ways' option on a different follower. 🤷‍♂️

 

Edit: Back in the game and as if by magic, the 'part ways' dialogue option there.

But now I'm confused.

Her Relationship rank is 'Ally' but the PotentialFollowerFaction Rank 0 and CurrentFollowerFaction Rank -1 should equate to Acquaintance and Rival according to the uesp wiki.

Currentfollowerfaction -1 means not  current follower.

Potentialfollowerfaction 0 means can be follower, can be added to followerfaction if the relationship is good enough.

Is this a custom npc  with custom voice ?

Some dialogues might be not available then.

Some npc need a increase of relationship to be available as follower.

Need to do a favour for them.

My gut feeling is that this something to do with dialogue options (scripts?) rather than faction ranks. See my two edits to the OP.
