In addition to making a bunch of the characters nude, they also replaced some characters with others and added a few OCs.

For example, Maxie was replaced with a new character entirely and several of the Pokemon protagonists, like Leaf, were added to replace male npcs.

One of the new characters replaced the Bug Catchers. When I played the game a few years back, I really took a liking to this character and made her my persona.

She wears glasses, has short hair, and likes the color green, just like me!

In the original game, she was topless, but I added a shirt onto her and removed her bug catching net without much effort.

And then, when I eventually started work on Platinude (then called Nude Platinum), because we didn't get any male sprites until later, replacing the bug catcher with her made all too much sense. It came full circle and she fulfilled her original role once again.

The only parts I don't really like about her are her legs and feet in both her nude and clothed designs. I also wish she were taller so she fit into gen 4 without being as short as I am in real life.

Quick question: So originally I was just gonna wait for the final version to play Platinude, but based on estimates, it's looking like it might come out right around the time the Switch 2 launches, and I can guarantee that's gonna take up all my gaming time. Conversely, right now I'm kind of bored and don't really have any other games I'm playing at the moment. If I were to start playing the current version now, can I still update it with new revisions and keep going, or would I have to start a new save file each time a new version comes out?

You want to use PKHEX.

There's a way to download your entire save file and then use it in the newest patch. You just need to rename that sav file to what the sav file of the newest version is called.

Look up some tutorials on this.

Not a graphical thing, but in the trainers school near the beginning, the two school kids you fight in it have garbled names.

 

Also, will the tiny player icon on the initial naming screen be eventually nudified?

We expect to fix the garbled names in the final version. We just don't know how to fix it right now.

Also, I have absolutely no clue how to edit those sprites.

We know where they are, but how to edit them is a different beast entirely. They have their own, really weird spritesheet that I have no clue how to edit.

Actually, what I do is just create a new patch using a copy of the clean rom i have on my drives and replacing the old rom i hav in my 3DS (yes, i play on official hardware), and i dont need to fuck w my saves at all as the way i use it, it just knows which save to use :3

 

U can even randomize it :3

I just had an idea while working (yes it hurt). I was contemplating on making a discord server for this project, while some may say it's a bad idea for file preservation, I believe the ability to organize the server into various different channels, i.e. sprite submissions, bug reports, general chatting, announcements, releases, etc.

 

I only thought of this because while the forums here are great, the big issues I see are the potential sneaky admins of LL will nuke messages w/o warning as well as some ppl having to scroll a while or surf the pages to find specific solutions for their potentially specific issues.

 

Obviously, since Ms. Viewer is the head of this project, or at least the main compiler, I will leave it to her whether or not I get this set up, but I will be more than happy to set up such a server :3

I guess now that there's a coherent project going, making a Discord server for communication would make this more convenient. Of course it would be more private so new people would show up less compare to what a forum allows for, but it does help us get rid of outside issues as well. Organization could be better in a server where there's channels and such than a straight forward forum like this so that's a great thing.

That's precisely one of the issues of Discord aside from file preservation, helpful information being hidden away in a server inaccessible to anyone who's not in it. 

This includes downloadable files, too, and you can't just share their direct links outside Discord because they'll expire.

I had to share modding resources for Legends: Arceus and Scarlet/Violet here because they can only be found on Discord servers which was bloody annoying to those who don't have nor want to use Discord!

 

Also, as part of Discord's enshittification process, adult content are now getting hard-locked behind an ID verification check which is invasive to people's privacy.

It was bad enough trying to create an account without using a phone number but now I have to present my driver license or even facecam myself to view adult content? Hell no! I understand they want to protect children but let's be fucking honest, any company that does this just wants to profit off the sensitive data you'd provide while any government that enforces this does not understand the vulnerability of having such sensitive personal data stored online.

 

I understand the use cases and benefits of a Discord server with one of the strongest points being that admins here can't just silently purge posts whenever they feel like it, but it comes at a risk of making this public thread inactive when everyone would be content to just messaging each other in a real time chatroom instead.

I rather we have our own forums instead where we could organise and distribute things, but one of us needs to have the resources to host it.

 

I cannot stress this enough. Discord has its pros but it should not be a replacement for discussion forums and file repository which I'm sick of seeing it being used for.

If there's a Discord server for this kind of project, I really hope it doesn't lead to a decrease of activity here because it sucks for outsiders who don't use Discord.

I mean it's not a bad idea to have a chatroom but I like seeing progress posted here and it'd be sad if they're only exclusively available on Discord servers from then on.

Dear lord since when was that a thing??? I mean I see the argument for it but this is some of the worse way to do it.
An actual danger to people's privacy and data on the internet lmao.
Heck, this could even create new problem to an existing problems, since now not only the people its trying to protect are vulnerable, everyone is vulnerable in a wider range. A single data breach and it's over, and if it's the only way in the future, it would be a gold mine for data brokers lol

An understandable point, however, we could leave a link in the thread that would point users to the server. I merely fear that with as many projects that will be taken on after Platinude, the thread will be filled with issues pertaining to a number of games that could easily flood the thread. Safety is a major threat, sure, but it also would deter would be minors from accessing content they shouldn't be digging around for. That isn't to say both cannot be simultaneously maintained, given to my knowledge there are only two places this project *could* be found. Though I would love to hear more points anyone else may think of in terms of pros and cons!

 

Another pro for a discord server is more immediate help should the right ppl b online, given chats are recieved without the need to refresh a page, and with a dedicated app for mobile, push notifications can notify people in need even easier! Tho a con is it could out us should the wrong person get a notif in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I think the chances of that are few and far between.

Woah. A big discussion happened while I slept.

We're not moving this project to discord.

Based on what is discussed here:

1. Files expire way quicker on discord.
2. You apparently need age verification to post nsfw. (wtf?)
3. Scrolling to find old stuff becomes 10x harder since there aren't page numbers.
4. People can find this thread way easier, so we can get new voices and spriters easier.

And that's why I separated Platinude from the main thread when it got too big. This place is explicitly for my nude mods. I think we'll be fine until we get to page 60, like the main thread.

• I do agree with your point that minors can't access the thread as easily, though. This just comes at the cost that it's harder for anyone to get in. Discord servers are invite-only, so one of the discord mods (you, me, Mr. Downbad, etc.) will need to explicitly allow the people to get in.
• Sure, the loverslab mods can nuke messages whenever, but that just means we need backups or for sprites to be exclusively shared through DMs. We can adapt. Y'all keep your sprites on your computers, right?

I want to keep the thread here. All my needs are met. I also just find Discord confusing at times.

Because Discord as a company is going to go public soon, there's a rising concern that the software will undergo changes that make the experience insufferable like more ads, more features being locked behind a paywall, old data gets removed or worse, all for the sake of appeasing shareholders.
