I definitely agree. Gamefreak probably never anticipated that making the same overworld sprite for two different trainers would cause problems. But, this is what we are left with.

Are there any other characters that share overworld sprites in Platinum?

My reasoning for doing these projects is for completion's sake. Making the characters naked ticks off boxes in my head.

I don't like the idea that a game series with such great character designs doesn't have a nude mod for some of its entries.

I'm not sexually attracted to the sprites at all, though. The most I can say is that I find a few cute in like an "aw, that's adorable" way or impressive in a "wow, that looks like it took a lot of effort" way.

That may just be because I don't find nudity inherently sexual. (I'm a supporter of nudism.)

Nudism is such a beautiful thing honestly. And it annoys me how most countries cant indulge in it due to legal reasons born of religion...they're just body parts, get over urselves! Me and my partner agree that u should b able to express urself how u like :3

The great thing abt this project is that the fact gens 1-5 r sprite-based makes this kinda ordeal that much more feasible compared to 6+ sadly, and i kinda wish there were modelers w a similar ambition to make a 3D iteration of this project possible ;w;

Randomizers are fun! I've done a bunch in my time. They really help me to appreciate some Pokemon I really like now, such as Frillish, Scolipede, Glalie, Marowak, and Victreebel. If you play Psychic Adventures, do it under the randomizer. It's made a lot better if you do that, trust me.

 

I 100% get where they're coming from. I'm a little put off by the younger sprites like the camper, twins, and schoolboy myself. Why some artists are more comfortable making the minors lewd than making the men nude, I'll never understand. I just found it rude for me to not put in the sprites that people spent time making. I like to think they have the same thoughts on nudity that I do and that making the characters nude, no matter how young they are, isn't much of a problem as long as they aren't being sexualized. Nudism is awesome.

There will, however, thankfully be a version of the mod without any characters we think are minors once Nude Platinum is considered complete. 

(You can tell your partner that! I'm sure he'll enjoy that version.) 

The end of the project just depends on when people are no longer interested in making sprites. I have it set so that after two weeks with no new sprites, the final set of patches will be started on. (Which would be May 1st by this timeline) Mr Downbad and I will work together to make them.

If I have to guess, it's probably just because people much prefer to edit sprites of characters that are cute and those very young characters have that kind of appeal.

Older men are generally not cute and therefore a less popular niche than cute characters while, of course, attractive women get the most attention. 

The likely kinds of people that want to see nude male sprites are gay men, straight women, and sometimes bisexual people, so we'd be lucky if we have a passionate NSFW pixel artist who's a fan of Pokemon and nudity/nudism as much as we are but with an affinity for older male characters.

 

It also has to be someone who's very interested in making everyone nudists.

I'm only interested in making the player characters naked because I have a kink for the main character being the only one nude and hence I make my own romhacks.

But I am happy to provide those sprites for another project if one desires, particularly the male characters because I know I'm one of the very few who would edit them.

I tried to do some nude sprites a long time ago and failed miserably on them. I think one thing you also have to account for is that the sprites are kinda small so putting some glocks on guys with the amount of pixels you have available is kinda hard to do, a full rom with everyone naked would be awesome.

Though and I feel like in modding as a whole making naked dudes is always less popular/explored compared to gals. I make mods for Shin Megami Tensei V and in that thread I've seen the majority make female models/mods. Feels like I'm the only one that also does the guys.

Also, while I'm not too keen on guys and little kids, and I guess also the old ladies, I'm not too prudish to completely reject it. I really don't need to have a special separate ROM with certain characters I don't like edited out or anything. I guess I just have a completionist mindset, where everybody should be included in running around naked, even if I personally just focus on oggling the hot chicks. I dunno, I guess I'm just weird like that.

 

As for why? I don't really give a shit about any of those nudist philosophy stuff. In fact, while I don't mean to offend the people here who do believe in that stuff, I just personally find it to be dumb hippy shit. Instead, I'm kinda like this one episode of the show Bob's Burgers, where they found out there was a nudist beach nearby, and all the kids were just staring at them from a distance through a pair of binoculars. I guess I'm just kinda like those kids, except I'm actually 40 and have easy access to much more hard-core pornography on the internet. But yeah, while the hardcore stuff is usually the actual spank material, I still find a dumb enjoyment of just seeing people run around naked. Like "heh heh, i can see their naughty bits, durr 🥴".

Personally, I find it harder to draw good-looking boobs than wieners.

With penises, it typically involves just drawing a short line from the character's pelvis with balls behind it.

With breasts, even for average size, it's a bit tricky to get the shape right as well as nipple placement based on perspective.

It's not really weird, it's just more immersive to have other people naked because it adds to the consistency of an alternate universe where everyone is nude.

If anything, I find it weird if only the women doesn't wear clothing but the men do, and vice versa.

Although I am in favour of giving people choices that matches their preferences, not including even the youngest and oldest characters in a supposed nudist AU due to some arbitrary "morals" is rather silly to me because it breaks that consistency of a fictional setting where no real person gets harmed.

 

I get it's uncomfortable to see these particular characters nude but at the end of the day, it's just plain old nudity and there's nothing inherently sexual about it. 

Even if the sight of naughty parts gets someone horny, that doesn't change the context of these characters being nude casually.

These characters aren't doing anything sexual like playing with their body parts or deliberately alluring you, they're just doing their usual things while simply being naked.

I'm kinda on the same boat where I'm more into exhibitionism than nudism. Of course, all the respect to those who enjoy pure nudism in their games and I mean, seeing everyone's private parts is fun for me too, but it detracts the naughtiness that I desire for public nudity if it's normalised by everyone being nude. That's why I wanted to make my own romhacks and nudity reaction mods because being the only one naked and being judged for it reinforces that naughty feeling which is what I find fun about nude mods.

I've been following the topic for a while and I find all of the sprites, no matter which one, to be quite well made in fact. So I'm pretty curios about pretty much everyone that's involved in making nude sprites since the beginning. Have you guys ever worked on other similar projects in the past as well ? I once tried to make a sprites of an OC of my friends in FRLG on Hex for the first time and it was painful, so I figured there's no way you guys are completely new to this type of pixel art.

How long have you guys been in the whole "art space" thing ? And what decision did it take for you all to start devoting your time to such a project as this lol ? Idk if these are a bit more "personal" questions but the sprites made here had made me quite interest in your stories, being someone doing art as a side hobbies and all.

Overall I just wanna say everything here does make my day quite a bit every time I get on here, a surprisingly wholesome space despite the unconventional feeling of the topic involve. The sprites and rom made in this community has been such a great experience to watch from the side as it grows and I could only hope it grows to be a better version of itself in the future.

I try to keep this place as nice and wholesome as possible despite the subject matter being lewd. I'm just a really kind person at heart and want to extend my kindness to others. There's no reason why we should be mean to each other on here. I like to think that the fact i keep enforcing that there's no deadline helps keep people calmer when they're making their sprites. Doing a nude mod is surprisingly hard work. And I credit people in the opening and closing credits because I truly care about the work they've put in. This project would not have gotten this far without you all.

The only time we've really had trouble was with that one person who was harassing Catnatic and asking the same question over and over again, but they were dealt with. Thankfully, we haven't had much trouble besides that.

Honestly sometimes it's best when they are NOT even overtly sexual because most of the 18+ pokemon hacks I've played... are pretty cringe with the sexual aspects. Like they are either a 13 year old who has absolutely no idea what they are talking about regarding the dialogue used or English just isn't their primary language and thus the wording just kinda ruins otherwise good dialogue.

 

Sometimes simpler is better and you can just use your imagination, which is why I appreciate this Platinude project so much and why I'm really looking forward to future pokemon games getting full nude patches!

If my character is unusually nude when they're supposed to be clothed, I prefer if there's actual dialogue to reflect that rather than using my imagination.

It's more exciting when something is actually said about it instead of pretending what someone would say.

But like you said, a lot of those dialogue edits in other romhacks are typically written in a raunchy, cringey way with poor grammar and spellings that ruin the experience.

 

That is why I wanted to make it clear that I prefer my own dialogue edits to be on-brand with the game's original tone—how you'd expect Game Freak to write their games if nudity (and mild sexual references) is universally allowed, because I believe I could deliver that experience well.

 

But of course when it comes to nude mods where everyone is nude, dialogue edits aren't really necessary aside from removing references to wearing clothes.

Eyy, that's definitely better. I would try to add one pixel of shading to the outward leg so it looks like they have knees. I'll play around with that and see if it's doable. Might not make a difference at all.

This. Girls Hunter 3 is a prime example of this. I will never get over the cutscene with 118 A presses. Mature themes written by immature people is really insufferable, and "and then they had sex" is really boring to me at this point.

There's a lot to it, so I'll try to keep it on the short side:

I've always had a knack for tinkering with things. For example, as a kid I found a toy rifle in the trash, and I used the lid off of a deodorant stick and pieces from another toy to turn it into a sniper rifle with a box magazine. All kinds of stuff like that. But strangely enough, it really started with a custom Yu-Gi-Oh playmat. I wanted a smol catgirl on it, but the one I wanted to use had human ears. I don't like catgirls with 4 ears, so I edited it with Microsoft Paint in Windows XP.

One pixel at a time.

With a history of only three actions.

By the end of it, you couldn't tell it was edited, so I was pretty proud of it. I still have the mat, even though I stopped playing the game because Konami got really fucking stupid with the pay-to-win bullshit and it wasn't fun anymore.

Then I started playing Elona (because it had catgirls in it), and learned how to edit the sprite sheet. I played around with that a lot, still using Paint. Completely redid one sprite, turning it into a catgirl, because of course I did.

At one point I tried going to college and took a few months of a Photoshop class. Then life decided I wasn't allowed to do that anymore, because I had to spend the rest of my Pell grant on car repairs, so I had to quit. That Photoshop experience still taught me more than enough to use GIMP effectively, and now the project file for my Elona sprite sheet has like 200 very poorly organized layers. I have literally two gigabytes of archived sprites. I made a LOT of custom edits on that sheet, over the course of around ten years of edits.

Then the ElonaPlus 2.10 anti-fun update happened, which I thankfully did not download, but it did mean I (like most people) lost interest in any new content.

Then I came across this project while I was in the middle of probably the worst and definitely the longest depressive episode of my life, and I saw a bunch of flaws in the sprites, which I pointed out. But by doing that I felt like I put myself in a put-up-or-shut-up situation, and I would look like a tool if I didn't put up. And I knew I could, so I did.

People were really happy with my work, which I still don't really know how to process. But feeling actually useful for a change has really helped me not want to jump off a bridge. They wanted me to stay on for the next project, so I am. First time in many years that I've felt like anything I've done has actually changed anything.

I never really give it much thought as to why the characters are naked. I just see it as if I were looking at this world through a pair of x-ray glasses.

I've been following the topic for a while and I find all of the sprites, no matter which one, to be quite well made in fact. So I'm pretty curios about pretty much everyone that's involved in making nude sprites since the beginning. Have you guys ever worked on other similar projects in the past as well ? I once tried to make a sprites of an OC of my friends in FRLG on Hex for the first time and it was painful, so I figured there's no way you guys are completely new to this type of pixel art.

How long have you guys been in the whole "art space" thing ? And what decision did it take for you all to start devoting your time to such a project as this lol ? Idk if these are a bit more "personal" questions but the sprites made here had made me quite interest in your stories, being someone doing art as a side hobbies and all.

Overall I just wanna say everything here does make my day quite a bit every time I get on here, a surprisingly wholesome space despite the unconventional feeling of the topic involve. The sprites and rom made in this community has been such a great experience to watch from the side as it grows and I could only hope it grows to be a better version of itself in the future.

Excellent. I look forward to a Moemon Nude Mod being made eventually. (Of course, I understand how difficult it can be.)
