Faster HDT-SMP screwing up my game

This thread was originally called "PapyrusUtil screwing up my game," but it turns out that mod wasn't the one being problematic.

I was in the process of installing some Sexlab mods, but when I installed Sexlab Tools, my game's framerate plummeted. After disabling many of my mods, I found that PapyrusUtil, for whatever reason, is now causing my framerate to drop under 10 fps. I don't know if this is related to Sexlab Tools, but that was when this started. I tried reinstalling Papyrus, but that didn't work. I'm using the version for SE.

Why is this happening? I need Papyrus to work because it's a requirement for some of the mods I use. Also, after disabling it, I got these weird messages.

Sexlab Tools

Which version of Sexlab Tools? This one?

I have both this and PapyrusUtil for 1.5.97, had them for a long time and never had any issues. First time I hear PapyrusUtil causes frame rate drops. If you have correct mod for your version of SE, there shouldn't be any problems. And my PC isn't exactly NASA-spec, I built it in 2012 and it's ancient technology by today's standards.

Yes, I installed that version. The problem didn't start until after I installed SL Tools, but it still happens even after I removed that mod and every other SL mod I installed. I also installed SoS, but deactivating it didn't help, either.

I had Papyrus higher in my LO than Sexlab.

That should be correct. If you double-click on PapyrusUtils the left pane the resultant window should show an empty top section, a middle section with 13 files being overwritten by SLF, and the lower section with 7 files not conflicting.

I am using PapyrusUtils v3.9.

SOS doesn't have any conflicting files with Tools or SexLab.

Tools only conflict with NFF and Bane's Defeat, but those are mostly interface files and once script. NFF should win all conflicts if you have it.

PapyrusUtil conflicts with SexLab and Simply Knock (if you have it). SL should win all conflicts.

SexLab should only yield to stuff like sound or expression replacers specifically for SL or Separate Orgasms. SLSO should win all conflicts, unless there are patches for SLSO (Hakkey Tweaks or expressions).

Do you have UI Extensions? This is a requirement for SL Tools. SL Tools page says it conflicts, but it doesn't. And it's required for other mods anyway.

I have an update. After going through my LO some more, I discovered that Papyrus wasn't the culprit. I discovered this when I disabled all my mods and left that one as the only active mod. After going down the list, I found that Faster HDT-SMP was the issue. So, it wasn't Papyrus, but a mod in which it is a requirement. Close enough. For whatever reason, it didn't like it when I installed Sexlab Tools. I reinstalled it, and now my game is fine.

I'm not going to fiddle with anything else involving modding for today. I need a break from this shit.

I have UI Extensions.

About SL, you said it should win all conflicts. Does this mean it needs to be loaded after all other SL mods (except the ones you listed?

If your mod manager doesn't report any conflict, it doesn't matter. Don't overthink it.
