anjenthedog Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 (edited) Using these source files I installed Engine fixes per instructions. part 1 using the mod manager, and part 2 manually Unfortunately, when I load Skyrim SE using SKSE loader after the installation, I receive the dreaded error flag I also tried using the SSE Engine Fixes - Modified toml file only for SSE 1.6.1130 and v1.6.1170 modifed toml "solution" with the same results Game loads, and the last save loads without apparent error, but it leaves me uncertain and hesitant to install any further mods or make new saves until I've fixed it. the d3dx9_42.log file posts this after I exit back out skse64 plugin preloader - d3dx9_42 exe path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimSE.exe loaded into SkyrimSE.exe or SkyrimVR.exe, proxying SkyrimSE d3dx9_42 funcs and registering preload hook success hook triggered, loading dll plugins (meh's loader) failed to search dll plugin directory DLLPlugin loader finished hook triggered, loading skse plugins found plugin "EngineFixes" for preloading attempting to load found plugins attempting to load "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins\EngineFixes.dll" loaded successfully and Initialize() called loader finished Edited February 8, 2025 by anjenthedog
traison Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 (edited) I would be suspicious of any other dlls you have installed. Most likely why it can't find the segment is because it has been modified. I.e. its looking for a pattern that is no longer there because something else already modified it. Edit: Example here. Edited February 8, 2025 by traison

Test your game without that mod, and you shouldn't see that error. 1

Just Don't Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 You can use both. You just need to disable the animation fix from Engine Fixes as per Anim Limit Crash Fix description (it's mentioned under Incompatibility). 1

After I resolved it, @bondjamesbond ansswer prompted me to go back to the webpage for the mod, and It has a blurb about how it's incompatible with engine fixes unless you disable a setting. I failed to notice it when I installed the newest verison. Incompatibility SSE Engine Fixes - the option AnimationLoadSignedCrash must be disabled in the EngineFixes.toml (EngineFixes.ini in old versions) file to make it work together with the patch. scurries away sheepishly with tail between legs....
