[Help] Nifskope Transparent Problem

So recently I picked up Nifskope and learned how to copy/paste or remove branches in nif
And the result shows up in Oblivion just as the preview in Nifskope.
And then I chose a SG swimsuit to try out transparency.

However, transparent doesn't seem to work
What I did was right click - Node - Attach Property - NiAlphaProperty
and change the alpha slider in the color petal.

In the preview window of Nifskope it shows that the clothes is transparent

But it is not transparent in the game.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

if i may    i think the probleme is from your file.dds  you need with Gimp / photoshop  to give transparance to it     or find a transparent textures to fit.

Did you hit save as to overwrite it so that the mesh actually gets changed? Also another easy way to add transparency to a outfit is first load it up in nifskope and render it then with gimp with .dds plugin place the .dds file in lasso what you want to make transparent double click the eraser and change the Opacity to anything but 100.

At 100 it will erase everything after you have used the eraser go to file go down and select overwrite this will change how it looks in nifskope check and see if it is what you want if not click edit then undo then overwrite again which will change it back and try again. If the outfit doesn't become transparent click the part you modified in nifskope right click it and go down to node and add NiAlphaProperty to it and then the part that you modified in the .dds file should turn transparent in nifskope.

I will have to download Gimp or photoshop for the first time XD.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it later.

My understanding is that transparency by NiMaterialProperty needs both a transparency map and a controller. In this case, probably NiAlphaController that is attached to the NiMaterialProperty, but I havent tried myself.

Personally I wouldn't apply the transparency with that material property alpha slider, especially not for such a single-mesh outfit. The drawback is that every element will be affected, for example the metal ring.

It's true, partial transparency for some elements can be achieved with a combination of a NiAplhaProperty and the texture. But it's important to mention the texture's alpha channel must be edited. A solid white aplha channel means full opacity, solid black is fully transparent (meaning invisible). Any shade of grey in between is creating a transparent effect. The lighter this grey, the more opaque the texture will be.

An example for a dress with partial transparency:

AlphaChannelTransparency.jpg

To expose the breasts only a small portion of the texture's alpha channel has been painted in a dark grey. Using the material property's alpha slider would turn the whole dress transparent. Which is also very sexy but not what I was aiming for with this particular dress here.

That's why texture alpha channel transparency is a more elegant way to separately apply transparency to specific elements and leaving others opaque.

So it's recommended to get GIMP and the texture plugin for it and search for a tutorial on basic image manipulation techniques.
