Practical Defeat: (Re)Animated

took a bit of touble shooting as most defeat mods do, but I did manage to eventually get everything to work except for restraints, I'v tried all sorts of settings but it only equips plugs and I can't get DDE to work at all, I see some people had trouble in earlier version but the restraints manager linked there doesn't help. I am using DDNG if that's relevant, thx in advance for the help, PD would be my perfect defeat mod if I can make it work...

To keep it simple, is there a time limit on recovering items taken by Practical Defeat's robbery outcome? I didn't see anything about this in the support forum.

 

I ask because an item I need for Legacy of the Dragonborn was taken and I was sent off to Bandit's Paradise via Simple Slavery. I'd like to play through BP (I have no idea how long it will take) but I can't lose that item forever.

Yes there is a time limit. HOWEVER, there's a hedge against that time limit in that the mod allows you to recover all your stuff anyway when working correctly. 

Once the time limit is passed, you'll never find the thieves but your things may be found in a container. The quest marker shows its location. One time out of three (the first, IIRC), I wasn't able to find the container. It probably didn't help that it was in a wilderness area. There's also an option in the MCM where you can give up on the quest. I assume* that option permits the container to disappear and remove your opportunity to recover your things. But I wasn't brave enough to test it yet.

Actually, come to think of it my current playthrough has a box of my stolen stuff in it I haven't searched out yet. I couldn't remember if it had quest items in it, so I'm eager to find it even if I don't reclaim its contents (in the name of immersion). Hope that helps.

After a week or so in game I finally tracked down the guy at Old Hroldan Inn, and he still had the ring I needed.

Is there a specific reason why PD uses priority "30" in its Acheron config? According to Acheron wiki the priority are 0-3, with 3 being the highest priority possible for very specific quest scenarios, that must always happen.

 

Wouldn't it be plausible to put PD very low, as to allow quest mods or very specific defeat scenarios to overwrite the default behavior, in very specific situations?

 

I already tested it and lowered the PD priority and it still works fine.

Having a problem with Novlus. Have used SL Animation Loader then SL P+ with both of these configurations working for the animations, but with PD, my character remains hog tied and there is no advancement to any animations, just struggles in the ropes.

 

Anyone have any idea on what I could be missing?

SL P+ no longer uses SLSA, if you want to use SLSA animations you need to use the SLSB-auto-converters, its described in the installation thread of the mod.

 

As to PD, it could be anything with a huge modlist such as Nolvus, without even papyrus logs or a more detailed description almost impossible to tell

I've disabled those already (SLAL, etc). Every animation I have in game works with the conversion mod (animations launch with DCL), but not when it comes to the PD events. They just either rummage around with their hand and nothing gets robbed or just stand there looking at the character while hog tied, with no animation loading (again nothing gets robbed).

 

I've checked some log files, but haven't got a clue what it is that's causing it.

I'm having the same issue. Acheron works, SexLab works, I have no idea what the problem is.

Enable verbose logging in PD and post your papyrus log. It could be anything, a race condition, script load, both at the same time or something entirely different.

I ended up getting it to work. Then I used LOOT and messed up the modlist a bit. I'm reinstalling everything and will see what happens and get back the thread.

Did you ever figure this out? im having this problem and cant find anything on how to fix it, and an bashing my head against the wall trying to get it to work properly...

Normal NPC defeats worked fine here, mostly. Without knowing your load order etc we cannot help you. But because this mod refuses to work with creatures, I just moved back to Defeat Bane. PD doesn't offer anything that SLD cannot do right now. There is much more work needed.

Funny enough, Naked Defeat got an Archon bridge addon, if you are adamant in using Archon. But it has been reaaaaly laggy for me now.

Ponzi set it up this way, and I've never touched that file - my guess is that he copied it from either Yamete or Simple Assault.

 

I believe all 3 of those mods might pre-date Ach's wiki 😆

Having ongoing issues with animations for PD during surrender. When I press my surrender key, the PC will do the kneel/hands on head for half a second, then go into the bleedout anim.  I can still move around at this point, which will trigger my usual walk animation.  As soon as I stop, it will put me into the hogtied on ground animation until one of my aggressors comes over to trigger the usual PD sequence.

Anyone know whats going on? Fresh install/new game.
If I surrender through acheron surrender key, she does the hands up animation, then goes back to being able to move around, enemies pacified, nothing happens. If i press it again, it just says noone to surrender to.
Also just now seeing that surrender event for acheron doesnt even have PD...

Also have this problem. And while trying register events in mcm it told that current defeat is still running.

Wanted button in mcm or console comand to end defeat. It last more than 3 game days.

The only thing i can do to disable endless defeat state is to use Resaver to clean PD records.

All is ok after that but mcm must be reconfigured manually as it have no save options.

If you open the QTE mod in the file explorer, there should be a .json file where you can change the keybinds, as well as the damage dealt to your stamina, prompt delay, and time to react. Lower those last values, and the prompts will be a lot quicker.

 

Edit:

(In my case) Flash Games - Struggling QTE > Interface > AELStruggling > Settings.json. Look for the multipliers section. This is what I have set for mine. 

 "Multipliers": {
    "Damage": 1.5,
    "Regeneration": 1.0,
    "Delay": 0.7,
    "Time": 0.7,
    "Events": 0

A MCM option would be nice, agreed. A workaround for the time being is to use MCM Recorder. Run it, set up PD's menu, then save the recording. If it gets reset, you can then rerun the recording from MCM Recorder, and run just the PD step (If you have used it for the rest of your MCM as well). Voila, settings restored with minimal effort.

Thanks, yeah I found it! I think I left the damage where it was, but I turned down Regeneration a bit, turned down delay and time a lot, and increased Events. Made it MUCH harder, but it feels good. I think I still win like 75% of the time, which feels alright because every time I start sweating lol. Thanks again.

Practical Defeat Reanimated lists Acheron as a dependency. Both Acheron AND Practical Defense have a "Surrender" key I can map. Do I need to map them both? Do I need 2 surrender keys? If not which one should I use and which one should I keep unmapped?

Another quirk I discovered- with Scrabs PE installed/enabled, PC gets tied up but nothing happens after that. With Scrab's PE removed, I get a pop-up error about PyramidUtils not found, but then actually works

Has anyone discovered a solution for the camera locking behind the captor, completely blocking the view? Even Numpad-3 gets disabled during the restraining animation, which should usually turn on the free-camera.
