Was this developed and tested with SexLab P+?Ā  Every time a SexLab scene starts there's a long pause and a ton of comments in console starting with "[bind....".

Ā

Maybe try specifying tags in the tags file (or even specific animations). Binding is using the standard calls, but if I recall P+ was having some issues with a function call that was returning tags.

Ā

Testing it with p+ was in on my to-do, but I could not get p+ working last time I tried (for anything) and have not invested more time in figuring out what was going wrong.

Ā

If you have any mods in mind that work well with it, I can peek at the source and see what is different.

I was able to execute the command from the .bat file.
The screenshots show the state immediately after loading and the point where Elik failed to appear.

Erik does not appear..jpg

Thanks for the info. That rules out theory #1 I guess. Tried to replicate the problem but can't. Erik shows up without fail in my game.
One other theory: do you have DeviousDevices NG installed? Or using pure DD5.2 only? (If you do not have DD NG can you please install it, and see if that helps?)

I was conflating the messages from binding with the actual cause for the pause between actors aligning and the scene starting. I removed binding from my load order and it still happens. I still haven't found the cause but I can definitely say it's not Binding.

And no, I'm not anti-P+, in fact I was on Scrabs Patreon for a good while specifically for that. In my opinion it was on a good way too (i.e. phase one aka 1.x), but then came phase 2 and a lot of achievements in backward compatbility (as well as existing patches) went down the drain for no good reason IMHO. Yes might have made the code better, cleaner, etc., but that's not the altar to sacrifice backward compatibility on and instead force every mod author to bend their mod to your framework. That's the point when I gave up on P+, doesn't look like Scrab has much time to work on it anymore too, so might end up a sunset rider anyway.

Actually, I agree and it's for the same reason why I lock my steam manifest files by making them read-only to prevent the game from updating. Sure, the Bethesda update may have fixed bugs and it may be better but my load order is actually working (more or less :P). That house of cards has not collapsed in months and I can actually play the game.Ā  But now Bethesda wants to increment the build number a few decimal points and topple everything over?

Fuck.

That.

It isn't an improvement for me if everything else gets broken.Ā

I have installed Devious Devices NG.

I tried kneeling before Uzgald to trigger enslavement, but the Dom does nothing and simply walks away. I believe I configured the rules to keep the leash active at all times, yet nothing happens.

Also, the action keys do not function at all unless I press a modifier key simultaneously; is this intended behavior? It feels like the modifier key serves no purpose if I have to use it every time.

I would appreciate more detailed explanations in the MCM; as it stands, I don't understand what most of the options do.

Regarding the Outfit Builder specifically, I would like to see instructions on how to use it and explanations of its features on the mod's download page. I have absolutely no idea what the functions do, what actions produce what results, or what the tool's purpose is.

That's a lot to unpack.
If you set a modifier key, it is required all the time. That's intended. The modifier key is not to modify what the action key does, it's for people (like me) who alrready have more keybinds than keys. More mods should offer that, IMHO. At any rate if you have the keybind to spare and don't want to use the modifier key, simply remove it.

Explanation for the MCM are planned, but they are a lot of work, (almost) no coder likes writing documentation and they eat development time, so sorry they are a bit on the back burner. They will come, but even if we stopped everything now to write those, it still would take days at least, write it up, double check for errors, have someone else read over it, etc.
Outfit builder is mostly a you get what you see version of the bondage outfits page in the MCM. Personally I prefer to put on the DD's I want, then go to the MCM page and hit learn worn items there, but preferences vary.

The leash is highy experimental and should not have come active in the current version to start with. That it is there was an oversight. It only works in Whiterun and Riverwood (or during Harsh Bondage) currently and even there not fully.
That aside making a rule permanent (leash or otherwise) does not enable it. It just says the rule will stay forever once the dom decides to make use of it (which is random), assuming you have the dom manage the rules.
All rules and events require you to have a Dom either in your parts (i.e. as follower) or in proximity. It sounds like you have no dom at all so far, so binding will do almost nothing.

As for triggering enslavement, does the dialogue option work ("Make this NPC your Dom")?

In case you are using the new 4.x branch of Sexual Fame reloaded, that got an update the other day due to it's skse plugin introducing a 10 second delay in starting a SL scene. Just mentioning it as it sounds a bit like what your problem appears to be.

Ā

Do you have NFF installed? If so, can you try disabling sandboxing and test that again?Ā  Assuming you are talking about using the kneel function in the pre quest menu, which will start a confirm box "Submit to (x) npc?"

Ā

Also, you can test this with any random NPC also, it does not have to be a follower.Ā  Then the NFF settings would not matter.

Ā

You should see a "SomeNpcName is your new Dominant" in a messagebox after.

Ā

Also - go into the MCM for and look at the Debug Mod tab and find the Check Requirements area, make sure everything in there says YES.

Fresh install withĀ Nether's Follower Framework whipping dont start. And action button dot work either. Swithcing NFF off, solves problem.

Just checked, using Binding 0.5.11 and NFF 2.84 it works just fine. The action key is working, whipping works fine.
You made sure that NFF and Binding aren't sharing a keybind?
You got Pama's Interactive Beatup installed or rely on ZaZ for whipping?

Also, can you post a Papyrus log please?

I do not have NFF installed.

Everything goes smoothly up to the point where I select "Kneel" from the action keys, agree to submit when prompted, and become a slave.
After a message like "Uthgerd has become the Dom" appears, the enslavement quest title pops up, followed by a message instructing me to "Obey the Dom."

I had previously checked the "Dom manages rules" option in the settings; I’ve been hesitant to uncheck it because the rules themselves are a bit unclear, but I’ll give it a try.

All the MCM requirement checks were marked "Yes."

To be honest, sometimes using translation tools to convert English to Japanese results in phrasing that doesn't quite make sense in Japanese; I imagine the reverse happens too. Sorry about that.

Ok, I'm confused now. Up to this point I was under the assumption that kneeling did not lead to submitting to the dom, but apparently it does?
So what is the problem? What do you expect to happen? (What should happen, at this point, after you submitted to the dom, is that you are put in the bondage outfit appropriate for the place you are in.) After that as long as Dom manages the rules is checked, everything is somewhat random.
Apparently you expect something to happen, but it doesn't?

And yes the language barrier is sadly rather real. Can't be helped.

For instance... whipping. Mistress hit the slave once and now she's just standing there in the whip stance. The action button just says "Mistress is not listening to my pleas to stop."

Ā

So what to do? Waited at least 30 minutes game time.

Ā

I did the safeword but I guess something went wrong.

Is there a beginners guide to help me get started?Ā

No, but the mod has sensible presets now (perhaps not tailored to your specific preferences, but sensible, assuming you want to actually play the game, not just interact with the dom non-stop). Just walk up to an NPC (can be any NPC, but I recomend a follower) hit the Action key choose kneel, and in the message box agree to make the npc your dom. After that the bondage outfits for the various areas/events will be applied automatically, you will have a dialogue option to talk about Binding specific things with the dom and the action key will offer a wheel menu with more options. Should hopefully be pretty self-explaining. You can start adjusting the MCM to your liking once you got the hang of it.

That's unintended behaviour. Likely caused by either a combat overhaul or another mod barging in and overwriting the doms behaviour during the scene. Use the Safeword from the MCM to end the scene. A Papyrus log might allow us to identify the culprit (not guranteed, but the best option).
Do you have Pamas Interactive Beatup instaalled? Ot using the ZAP Whipping?

I actually have a bug in the zap whipping that is keeping it from moving to phase 2. Hence the standing around. LikeĀ Talesien mentioned, the pama version works OK. Thanks for letting me know this is an issue; will get it fixed in the next update!

The issue is that upon defeat, the Dom either fails to appear or a different Dom appears instead, leaving the player unable to move.
However, I found a workaround for this by simply unchecking the relevant option in the MCM.

The next issue is that the Dom leaves without doing anything, though I suspect this was a misunderstanding on my part.
Since I had checked the "Dom manages rules" option, it seems the various settings I configured in the rule list below it had no effect.
I had assumed the Dom would manage the rules based on that list.

Regarding the descriptions for the MCM settings—since displaying them all in-game might be difficult, perhaps you could list them on the download page for the time being?
There are so many configurable options (which I think is fantastic), so having an explanation would be very helpful.

I have high hopes for the leash feature.
Keep up the good work—I'm rooting for you!

The dom does manage the rules based on that list, does not mean he does what you want. Bindings origin is consensual BDSM. That list basically establishes limits. So, with Dom manages rules it is up to the dom when and if he establishes a rule, within the parameters set. Bindings default is all rules are disabled and default:

  • Disabled/defaultĀ = default (i.e. the rule can be assigned,Ā removed and usedĀ without restriction).
  • Hard Limit = What is says, the rule will not be used ever.
  • Only in Safe Areas =Ā  Like Default (blank), but the rule will be used only in safe areas, i.e. in cities, towns and building (occupied by friendlies). Note that the "safe area" extends a bit around settlements and can be a bit irregular (especially if on the streets around WhiterunĀ  you zip in and out of the 'safe area' a lot, hence there is an adjustable delay for enabling/disabling rules and bondage set)
  • Make Rule Permanent = Like defaultĀ  (blank), except the rule will not be removed again once instated.
  • Make Rule Permanent in Safe Areas = Like Safe Areas, except theĀ rule will not be removed again once instated.
  • Only in Unsafe Areas = Pretty much the inversion of Safe Areas, i.e. the rule will only be used outside safe areas (i.e. in the wilds, dungeons, etc.)
  • Make Rule Permanent inĀ Unsafe Areas = As Unsafe Areas, except the rule will never be removed again, once instated.

If and when a Dom instates a rule, that is not defined as a hard limit, is up to the Dom (i.e. random). Not the player, no topping from the bottom. Likewise, unless a rule is set to become permanent once instated, it's up to the dom to remove it again.

I haven't installed any of the optional mods yet so I guess it's using the Zap whipping. Could we adjust the whipping damage to like 5 HP per hit?

If using ZAP you should not take any damage from the whipping after reaching 30% HP.Ā If using Pamas Interactive Beatup you should not take damage at all.

That stated depending on your installed mods something might modify/scale follower/NPC's/Swords (the crops count as swords), etc damage, etc. A frequent Problem on the SLTR support thread as well. The problem is that only combat animations are fast enough to create a believable whipping motion. So all whipping anims are also combat anims. If you have anything that scales combat damage, it tends to have the side effect of whipping damage getting modified, often increased, as well. There is little we can do about that.
